also i've heard that with the mines ecu it can be sent back to mines if you change your mods and they ajust it accordingly, is this true??

there are no tuners in Aus that can use/adjust the MINES ecu's and therefore if you make a mod, then the ecu must be sent back to MINES JAPAN and they will reprogram it and include the mod you have made.. but just say that you got a nw intercooler from Mick Metalcraft or some other Aussie brand not known over there..

they can't adjust it for that because when they make adjustments, it's like ticking off a shopping list.. eg.. new upgrade to intercooler - HKS, tick..

so I don't know how usefull these are here in aus if you are going to make other mods then what you already have..

yeah, like everybody else says.. .mines is pretty specialised - it is fine for japan.. but its like the whole ECU has to be reprogrammed to exact specs using Mines equipment.

I'd go for a more local-friendly ECU.. powerFC, wolf3d, microtech, motech, and probably a couple of others.

Im about to buy R34 GTT and the one Im looking has Mine's ECU. I wonder if that will be any good for performance and reliability or just a headache since tuner will tell me that he s got no idea how to adjust or even check the ECU because its something they r not used to...

So Im afraid of getting the car with Mines ECU and getting ripped off. In case it malfuncitoins and not working what do I do? Worries worries because I have "no idea about Mines ECU"

Buy a factory ECU then piggy back it. Negotiate price to free up cash to include this stuff. :)

I have a Mines Tuned ECU in my R32 GTR. I only have a cat back exhaust, the rest of my car is standard (boost, turbos, etc....). In terms of reliability my car is perfectly reliable for the australia climate, RON of fuel (I use BP98). Cold starts are perfect, etc......

I aggree though with some of the guys here that if you want to start modding your car then you would need to look at a aftermarket ECU (pref aussie made one e.g. haltech) as there is local support and servicing). If you are going to leave it stock then enjoy the car as it is!!

my 2 cents......

I also have one in the R32 GTR.

A bit rich, pops flames and all that jazz.

Car has run up to 1.1bar on stock turbo fine. Very cold night though.

Doesn't like certain fuels. The car runs a bit more sluggish if not on BP Ultimate.

I'm going to guess these things were tuned to run 100ron fuel. As there is a big sticker on the inside of my fuel flap with some japanese writing and "100ron!!!!" on it.

Hi guys, My friend has just found out he has a Mines computer in his Z32 300zxtt.

What exactly do they do?

I understand that it is a remapped computer, but how much gain can we expect over standard?

probably about 20kw and a broken ring land!!!

They are no doubt alright on Jap fuel but they are no good on Aussie fuel. There is no such thing as being able to send the ECU back to Japan and have them modify the tune successfully!!! Every car is different and if they werent why would we need to create individual tunes for cars that have the same mods!!!

Get rid of it and buy a Power FC!!! your pistons and rings will be eternally grateful!!!!

Sorry to bring up an old thread but i have to ask..

I just recently went to install a safc and found that i have a mines ecu.

Now before i start solderin away, will the safc still work fine with a mines ecu?

I cant think of a reason it wouldn't but can you guys?

cheers,

    • So yes. All of them. Something like 98% of all fuel in the USA has 10% ethanol: https://afdc.energy.gov/fuels/ethanol-fuel-basics It's labelled as like, AKI, 87, 91, 93 with an E10 or E5 or E15 label on the pump. At a certain point, it's not just "E10" instead of 91. It is 91, 95, 98, and all of them have 10% Ethanol in them. You can also get E85 and E30 which is why you do see some people rolling around with E30 tunes in them.
    • Thanks for the response. This is an 04 EP3 Type R. JDM spec. Fairly certain they're just basic BC racing coils. I do plan to keep as the ride quality on stock I've been told is pretty meh given Sydney roads. If I were to go down that avenue, does NSW require them to be a certain spec (close to original) etc?
    • Should have asked what is the car?
    • I've had two super conflicting experiences with blue slips. My 30 year old E39 waltzed through with no issues but my brother in law was knocked back on 12 y/o 3 series due to wiper blades and some cracking in a control arm bush.  What kind of coil overs? Do you want to keep them after?  If it was me I'd get some dirt cheap shocks and springs from eBay or scumtree. Not ideal but will get you over the line and might even be less than $1k.
    • Hey guys,  Way back when (about 15yrs plus), I picked up a beautiful set of Tein 'Super Racing Spec Circuit Master RE' coilovers from Russman. I have legit never fitted them to my car, as it was garaged indefinitely while i bought a house Yada Yada. They look brand new! Anyway its time to pick up where I left off, and have started doing some khanacross and am booked in for a hill climb next month. The car has some hard af Nismo shocks in ATM, which has me wanting to upgrade again, and now I am left wondering if it's worth having these teins rebuilt? I think they where an ok shock back then, but how do they compare to what's on the market now?  Shockworks/mca are 2800+, and I am sure they are great. But if I can have these rebuilt and be better than, say, a set of bc's for around the cost of bc's, I would be happy with the performance v cost trade off.  If they are considered outdated and rubbish these days, so be it, I'll put them on the shelf and be happy to look at the pretty green colour while I save for the SW/MCA option. Grateful for your thoughts on the matter, and suggestions on who could do the rebuild if it's a worthwhile pursuit.  cheers, Rowdy.
