Andrew,

I agree it was a shambles Saturday night - the number of vehicles was more than what is normal (both with Comp and Street cars), but it is not a case of the facility not being able to cope - we have twice that number at Comp Meets. The problem is that we have absolutely no idea of how many cars are going to turn up to Street Meets, where we do with Comp Meets and that way we are prepared.

To ensure this will not occur again we are changing our next Street Meet to Sunday 4th May whereby we will open the gates at 9.00am and start racing at 10.00am. This way if a large number of vehicles turn up we can run all day - and even all night if need be! Everyone will get the amount of runs that they are happy with! I hope that this solution meets with your approval and you will continue to frequent the Street Meets and get some real runs in.

Regards

Anna Micheel

So it looks like we get a whole day AND night of racing for $50. It will be interesting to see how many people turn up for the next one!

Also I have the videos of 2 of my runs, and more importantly of John's Aus record run at My Yahoo Briefcase .... will upload more soon

hehe Matt you noticed .... it looks good to I STOLE it, so there :)

Funny you guys should talk about 'buggering it up' - here is an excerpt from the email I sent to AIR yesterday:

----------------------------------------------

As I'm sure you can understand that I am unhappy at paying $50 to wait around all night and only have a couple of runs. Most of the Skylines Australia group were there and feel the same - we went out for a night of fun and had a miserable night. One of the Skylines waited over 2 hours for scrutineering (due to the drag line blocking entry to the scrutineering area - before they widened it to 4 lanes after complaints) and he only got 1 run (which he messed up anyhow). Needless to say he is VERY upset with the system!!!!

I spoke on the phone to Anna Micheel earlier today. She was very understanding & helpful about the whole situation  Needless to say I'm in for free next meet.

I also chatted with her about future events & running fortnightly s/meets come next summer! We quickly touched on our private meet as well, specifically the spectators issue. I'll update further within the drag day thread.

I gave up and rang AIR 2day, they said they sent me an Email but I didnt get it. After about 10minutes on the phone they finnaly gave in and gave me free entry to the event aswell. Its amazing what can happen when a few people voice there opinions on a certain matter. in the end we all win.

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
    • I feel there must have been a FB/insta post and the weekend did not start well at all I hope everyone is all okay
    • Yeah, I guess its pretty easy to get to if this doesn't work. Just wait till next oil change and pull it out. I am going to have to do the oil pan gasket soon and thought I'd just replace it while I was there.  Thanks
    • All that matters is you're safe and you were able to type that post. Hopefully heaps of parts you can recover for the next shell.
