Cleaning Stainless Steel - Muffler

My muffler is stainless steel, and it seems to have a bit of discolouration on part of it, and I wanted to some how get it off..

Whats the best way to actually clean the exhaust.. Ive been polishing it fine, and it comes up extremely shiny, but its still got those small stains on it..

any idea? I didnt want to go at it with steel wool or anything, as it will most likely lose its sexy shine..

It needs to be machine polished, which means taking it off:uh-huh:

I've used a metal polishing paste on past exhausts and it worked a treat!

recommend it too and for wiping the dullness off the plastic headlight covers

try Brasso i used it in metal work at school, my candle stick holder came up like a mirror. mabey it will work for mufflers too??
