the front coilovers are all the way down.....and there is still 1-2 between the guard and top of the tyre

i am a bit pissed about that as i want to get some 18s or 19s in the future and im concernd its gonna sit high as.......

its a r33

can anyone explain? is it just tien have shit all height adjustment?

thankssss

yep more details are good...

1-2 what? Feet? Kilometres? Microns?

they're designed for handling not for sitting the car .5 inches off the ground.

you'd have been better off just bunging in some super low springs or something like that if that is what you were after

I was able to lower my 180sx over my 17's/18's quite low, but I've never really tried to 'dump' it as such, so they've got more than enough adjustment for me.

This is the car with 17's and 18's, and I'm pretty sure there is a fair amount more adjustemnt in them, never wanted to go any lower.

Why do you think it gunna "sit high as" after you fit wheels and tyres the same diameter as you have now?

Low profile tyres on 18" or 19" means the same diameter as higher profile tyres on 16 "or 17".

Unless you buy high profile 18" or 19" tyres, then you will have a speedo error problem.

Centre of wheel to guard measurement (all 4 corners) is the suspension industry standard for measuring height. Skylines (R32/33/34) handle and ride best around 350-355 mm front and 340-345mm rear.

>_< cheers

Your car IS automotive porn.

how low do u want to go? There's nothing wrong with the coilovers, ur application is probably wrong. For ur purposes of dumping it way below optimal height, you would have been better off getting super low king springs..

I have the super streets and they have a preset window of optimal height adjustments up or down...outside that, there's really no point.

i have adjustment left in the rear

but the fronts are all the way down.......and sits sorta like ur 180 at the front....just a bit more space in between tyre and guard

this is my r33 with 18's and tein super street, and i can still lower it about a inchpost-23517-1160225442.jpg

My guess to this is that when Tein wanted to sell their suspension in Australia the ADR's (Australian Design Rules) would have said "Make it so they can not lower their car to the weeds"

I also bought a set of super street Teins and had this problem. (R32 GTR)

There is nothing wrong with the suspension you have. My car just won a event at our local track (Wanneroo) in the turbo 4WD class and it is not too far from a standard GTR.

My suggestion to you if you want to lower your car some more is to look for some lower set springs that will fit the Teins. Keep in mind that your car will not handle as well and the ride will be harsher. (but it will look good)

mehhhh im over the low fing now.............i like the ride n how stable the car is around the corners now......very happy..........compared to my old suspension which was stock........tien eats it up in every aspect :)

    • Bit of a pity we don't have good images of the back/front of the PCB ~ that said, I found a YT vid of a teardown to replace dicky clock switches, and got enough of a glimpse to realize this PCB is the front-end to a connected to what I'll call PCBA, and as such this is all digital on this PCB..ergo, battery voltage probably doesn't make an appearance here ; that is, I'd expect them to do something on PCBA wrt power conditioning for the adjustment/display/switch PCB.... ....given what's transpired..ie; some permutation of 12vdc on a 5vdc with or without correct polarity...would explain why the zener said "no" and exploded. The transistor Q5 (M33) is likely to be a digital switching transistor...that is, package has builtin bias resistors to ensure it saturates as soon as base threshold voltage is reached (minimal rise/fall time)....and wrt the question 'what else could've fried?' ....well, I know there's an MCU on this board (display, I/O at a guess), and you hope they isolated it from this scenario...I got my crayons out, it looks a bit like this...   ...not a lot to see, or rather, everything you'd like to see disappears down a via to the other side...base drive for the transistor comes from somewhere else, what this transistor is switching is somewhere else...but the zener circuit is exclusive to all this ~ it's providing a set voltage (current limited by the 1K3 resistor R19)...and disappears somewhere else down the via I marked V out ; if the errant voltage 'jumped' the diode in the millisecond before it exploded, whatever that V out via feeds may have seen a spike... ....I'll just imagine that Q5 was switched off at the time, thus no damage should've been done....but whatever that zener feeds has to be checked... • I think Fitmit had some, have a look on there (theyre Australian as well)
    • Hah, fair enough! But if you learn with this one you can drive any other OEM manual. No modern luxury features like auto rev-matching or hillstart assist to give you a false sense of confidence. And a heavy car with not that much torque so it stalls easily.
    • Actually, I'd say all three are the automatic option. Just the different trim levels. The manual would be RSFS, no?
