Air Filter Oil ?

Hey guys,

Just a quick one - the oil used on the pod filters - do they cause much issues if it gets "sucked" in to the inlet pipes and cooler pipes?

I know some pods have quite abit of oil on them, just wanting to know how dangerous, if so, they can be?

They can cause your AFM to play up, varies on different models etc.

yeah its harmless, except it can contaminate the sensor on the AFM as already stated.

if you have it doing that though, you have probably over oiled it to begin with...

the afm doesnt seem to play up at all, just that there seemed to be a bit of oil in the cooler pipes.

i have a very thin film of oil in my pipes, it's because of the filter. don't worry about it.

The crankcase breathers are plumbed back into the standard intake before the compressor, maybe thats the oil your seeing?

Unless your soaking you filter in the oil, I can't see why the piping would be covered in the air filter oil.

Do you have a catch can?

Is it baffled?

how much oil are you putting on? it's just a very light coating. it's not like you need to dip it in a bucket of oil, or paint it on with a brush. it's a light spray.

oh I didnt put much at all when I did it the other day, just maybe it was already heavily oiled? not sure!

oh, no catch can, perhaps I should invest in one!

yeah, the cooler pipes pretty much always have oil in them (sometimes even if you have a catch can too depending on how it's plummed).

Mine did. you shoulda seen the colour of the petrol when i used it to clean out the intercooler when I changed it.
