All,

Its time to decide who is the best driver in town. Its a level playing field, same car, same day, same track!

Discussion's last night with John from UAS has provided us with a unique opportunity to test our driving skills. John has a spare car that we can track on Thursday 19th Oct OP GP L2S day. We will all get 3 laps in the car, which is equipped with timing equip. Who ever is the quickest will win the prize, and the respect of the track day warriors!

Ok the car.

Its a 1991 corsair 2.4lt manual 5 speed front wheel drive. The car is registered but has a little front end damage, but still drives ok.

The cost will be $50 for a seat in this ultimate track car! All costs covered, fuel, brakes, clutch, tyres everything.

Our goal is to not kill the car, as anyone who cook's the clutch, brakes, gearbox or engine will automatically be disqualified and be shamed off the SAU. Anyone who is silly enough to crash the car must work off the dept to UAS by working a weekend, getting coffees and cleaning UAS's workshop or repairing the damaged car if repairable.

We cannot drive it like we stole it, the longer the car lasts, the more laps we get and the more chances you have in clocking off the best lap time and winning the 1st place prize.

Depending on the number of entries first prize will be anything from a bottle of Motul 300V, to an oil change and if we get enough players a full service for your car.

John is eligible to drive since he is putting up the vehicle.

Im obviously in.

Abo Bob is in as well.

Steve (WRX) is in as well.

Ok let me know if ready to take the driving challenge and work out who is the best driver.

Note: You will need an L2S licence for the day and be attending the OP private practice on the 19th Oct $110.

    • That looks good, but I think you're going to need much beefier side skirts now.
    • They are daft and there's a reason it never caught on. Steering feel? We don't need no stinking steering feel!
    • I gotta pull you up on this. It's driving me crazy. A shutter is something that closes, like over a window or in a cmera. The word you want is shudder. That LSD is clearly f**ked. Take it to a diff shop and get it disassembled and examined by an expert. YOu might have plates welded together or something equally crazy.
    • Define "starting to fail". Wy not just rebuild them?
    • Check the Nistune doco. There are a few assumptions being made here that might not be valid. I will list the things that occur to me: Base map. Base map for what? Base map for Z32? Then the cranking pulse width is probably wrong for an RB25. The extra 500cc of capacity might well be enough to prevent it from catching. Base map for RB25? I don't think you can load one of those into a Z32. You have to just make the settings correct for an RB25 in the Z32 base map. That is either K or the TIM to get the pulsewidth right. Loom. You bought a loom for an RB. And you plugged it into a Z32 ECU. Did you make sure that any iwre differences were swapped. From memory, there's at least a couple. And as per the others, I would suggest making sure that the fuel pressure is correct while cranking and that the injectors are actually flowing as expected. They really must come out and go on the bench, unless you do find that you have messed up as per above points. I would also suggest watching in Nistune to make sure that everything is reading correctly. That the correct binary flags are raised at the right time (like the crank signal), that there's no stupid values in K or TIM. That you have not got mismatched firmware for the ECU and/or a wrong image loaded.
