between my engineer and the Chief Technical Officer at Dickson having a little war - with my R33 in the middle - Dickson's anal retentiveness and the sheer cost of things

Kinda sounds like what I'm sort of going through, though I'm not quite at the stage of talking about it that way

i didn't go anywhere near dickson when i transferred my stagea from NSW to ACT. didn't have nay problems, Marc did it all for me at Discount tyres. said everything was up to scratch even with all my mods... i don't know why everyone goes to dickson all the time, they're sea hunts.

good to hear nsanity did your problems have anything to do with your sig ???

"R33 GTS-T - Bought as '95, Complied as '98, VIN says '93, Car appears '95."

nope. According to the Inspection report - the car is a 98. The end apparently.

And Leshy - as said in the previous thread - the rules have changed, you must go to dickson to get your car ACT Registered the first time now - no if's but's or maybe's.

It's a good feeling having plates eh.

Weird what you say about the Dickson thing, mine didn't go over Dickson... :P I though having the (compliance) plate on the car was enough? Aside from everything else that constitutes a roadworthy car that is.

The compliance plate just means certain things on the car have been modified to meet ADR's, not that its roadworthy.

To the letter of the law, new registrations or transfer of registrations on imports must go over Dickson... but it doesnt seem to be enforced that much.

However, most people I know who didnt go over Dickson have gotten "random" re-inspection letters in the mail not long after.

Does that include transferring from one ACT owner to another or only interstate transfers? I bought my car locally and never went over dickson and haven't had any issues.

interstates.

if it wasn't immeadiately previously registered within the ACT (i.e does it currently have ACT plates) you must go over at dickson.

Understood a compliance plate doesn't make a car roadworthy, it makes it Australian compliant at the time the plate was fixed to the car.

If they have to go over Dickson, why is there an 'establish' (ie. start registration in ACT - rather than transfer) tick box for authorised inspection stations to tick? I have registered 10+ cars in ACT from out of state through non-Dickson inspection stations, fingers crossed I don't get audited this time (not that I have anything to hide).

Ok bought my 32 in syd last month, got rego check, fixed issues, handed in HCR320 plates and paid monies got ACT rego TODAY ! YAYAY !!!!!

I had no problems with having to go to dickson .. car has usual "mods" but different story for my FJ20 Datsun 1600 that took years and thousands to have engineered and registered.

Jus depends on your luck on the day i reckon.

For interests sake, what mods does it have that they didn't mind? (Not that it's conclusive or consistent of Dickson to write a book on).

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
