hi guys

just wondering what other dyno results are around on 34's.

Thes are my mods:

Full 3.5" kakimoto exhaust

A-vcr boosted @ 1 bar

Power FC

Front mount intercooler

i had problems with this mechanic but the car feels ok.

Should i get it dynoed/tuned again or is this result ok for these mods.

before i had the Power fc and FMIC tune i ran the car and got a 13.6@ 101mph but i was only running .85 bar(12psi)

cheers

steve

Sounds a little low given you're running 1bar, but if we could get a look at your dyno sheet that would be great.

btw.. that's on the stock turbo? just that 1 bar on the stock 34 turbo seems a little excessive.

yeah its the stock turbo. thats my point ive been reading everywhere that we shouldnt boost it to 1 bar all the time, but the mechanic that tuned it said it would be fine. ive been running it constantly at 1 bar and it seems fine.

Sounds fine to me. Remember a dyno is just a tuning tool/indicator.

Obviously time to time there are extremely bogus readings...

But i usually allow a 15rwkw variance for any given dyno on any given day and then you'll find most results fit into that variance.

But 190rwkw is pretty much spot on dude.

Some dyno's will have your car around 200, some 190, some possibly 180.

If the power graph is smooth, car feels/drives well... thats what really matters.

Although i wouldnt run 1bar... turbo isnt going to like that forever.

mate....that sounds real low........mate of mine gets 181rwkws with just .7 bar of boost and a exhaust and thats with no cooler.....get it retuned

As 'R31Nismoid' says, allow for +-15rwkw variance on different dyno's. There are that many variables that can affect the power output (Tyre size, wheel spin, dyno calibration etc.) and if you had issues with your mechanic he's probably tuned it rich just to be safe. Did your mechanic use FC datalogit to tune the PFC or just the hand controller?

To me that sounds spot on mate, I'm personally expecting 175-185rwkw with turbo back, pod and 10psi.

EDIT: Just read 1 bar, but even then I'd say its pretty spot on. After 12psi the stock R34 turbo apparently is just blowing hot air so I'd crank that down to 12psi max mate.

retuned? why?

Did you mate have his car dyno'd....

on the same dyno?

at the same time?

on the same day?

If you answered NO to any of the above three, then you have absolutely no claim to say its wrong, or it needs a retune.

anDru, you really need to think before hitting the submit post button.

190's is wots to be expected realistically.

My 34 - Power FC, turboback, FMIC, BC kit - 194rwkw at 14psi. That was during the tune, i dont run it anymore than 13psi. Like most have said turbo is just out of efficiency after that.

mate that is a HUGE difference and not some 15kws u said.....compared to my mate...and i no there might be some diff with not the same dyno and not the same day blah blah but can a car seriously be losing around 20-30 kws just from that?

::EDIT::

i just gave my mate a call (he got his car dynoed again) and his achieving 200 rwkws with .85 bar, FMIC, and a standard 3" turbo back

i dunno man but "tough r34s" dosnt sound so good

My mate has a R34 with

HKS2530

dump-back exhaust

fmic

pfc -tuned at CHASERS

GFB bleed valve

spitfire coilpacks

made 207rwkw at 12psi but i suppose its got more in it.

My R33 has an safc, dump back zorst, fmic at 12psi it made 211.2rwkw.

If i were you take it to C&D Motorworks in Braybrook (Melbourne) for a re-tune.

A later model skyline with a Neo motor should at least reach the 195-205rwkw zone.

Diagnose your engine for any possible problems that may be preventing your engine from producing its actual power reading.

nah nah nabil r31nismoid said we all should think before we post about how a r34 should run......

because we are all stupid because we believe a fellow r34-ers car isnt running as good as it should

hehe he just said YOU need to ;)

    • For fuelling the Haltechs have O2WB fuel controllers. Very useful for helping tuning VE and correcting for *small* mistakes. Of course if your injector/cam/trigger/sensor data is just wrong (or for a GTT which is not a GT) then you will get impossible reactions to things. I am sure you know this already but the reason people don't typically put haltechs (or any Aftermarket ECU) on GT's is because there's practically no real gains to be had - So this knowledge won't be commonplace.
    • Can someone tell me if the cracks seen in the rear sway bar bushings in these photo's is unacceptable from a roadworthy point of view?
    • Shouldn't need a "base map" for anything other than guidance to ignition tuning. You just need the engine capacity right, the injector size right, and something, almost anything, for a VE map. On an NA engine, fuelling is almost completely a function of load signal & rpm. It should run and drive with a completely flat fuel map. It will be too lean under load, but that's easily fixed. We used to tune all ECUs without any base map. There were no such things (until someone had tuned a near stock engine on one, and then they had a "base map".
    • What did you actually buy/how much did it cost? When I got mine in like.. 2017...? 2019? the aim was to run Torque for gauges via ODB2 and things like Track Addict/Laptimers/Dashcam/Reversecam/Spotify etc. Mine never broke, but I wonder if you've got the same needs (it sounds like it). Cause I liked the idea of being able to do anything with it. That said, yours also cost 3x the cost of what I spent so... food for thought.
    • For me there is a massive difference in manufacturer or big brand crippled android (Sony, Kenwood etc) vs the sort of thing I've installed here, which is basically just a tablet in DIN form factor with open Android, and the other model of course is mirroring - Android Auto/Carplay. I hate the locked down manufacturer and AA options where they decide what apps I'm allowed to install, including the Launcher but also importantly things like Ecutek (for this car) or Real Dash (Stagea) are not supported. Plus those crippled versions tend to be slower due to both overheads and lower spec hardware. On the other hand, when this breaks I'll likely be in trouble for support....but how is that different to owning an Infiniti anyway
