Andrews tune is fine. AFRs perfect, timing is modest. Your opinion is out of spite, jealousy, and just general ass. You have no clue what you are doing or looking at regarding a tune anyway.

Also, Many tuners tune by ear when it comes to knock, I can name a number of highly regarded tuners in Mackay that do this. Its common practice. When making bulk power, then you have to be more careful and use specialized equipment. His car was too noisy up top so I kept the timing down until we can safely add more timing into it. It was his request, he was happy with that, and I did it for him. He just wanted to get it on the track and running safe.

I don't add timing how you do, and just select a square of cells in high revs and added a shit load of timing, took him for a drive while it made bulk power pinging its ass off to get him excited. As I said, over the past months I've had 3 separate people, one of them is a friend of yours, confirm this.

I've been tuning for nearly 10 years, never had a complaint. Also been approached by 2 shops and asked if I wanted work. But I'm not interested in taking it on full time.

P.S - I would never let you touch or tune a car of mine at all. I also wouldn't recommend you to anyone else. And definitely not with the dodgy attitude that you have.

hahaha u cant read can u... i never touched the tune on that motor, yet u continue to blame me ??

and tune by ear with knock hahahahaha if u can hear it knock its already too late and there is damage done.

also when it was in my car it never pinged at all, so i dont know where ur getting all this wealth of knowledge, must be off the toilet paper u wipe ur ass with.

my opinion is out of what ive seen.... that is truth.

Do I need to keep repeating myself too? Three sources confirmed it, one that happens to be a friend of yours, that said it was pinging its ass off when you took them for a drive. I even have the map to prove it...?? If you ran 20psi+ with this sort of timing, there is no doubt it would ping, and bad.

I've seen it with my own eyes too I guess.

Andrews car blows a turbo to manifold gasket, yet you carry on with your "opinion" that the tune is shit because it was laggy?? You must have rocks in your head. You really don't have a clue.

Also, you'll be the fool when Andrews car comes off the dyno and gets a good result. So carry on all you like.

its only ran 20 pound.... and how can 3 different ppl confirm something that never happend ?? u have 3 imaginary friends ?

and i wont be the fool when he finally gets a good result, he is the fool for getting u to tune it how many times now ??? which is a total of how many $$$$$$

im not carrying on because it was laggy. i was carrying on because it was running shit. and if u had a clue u would only need to have 1 go at tuning it and it would be done

No, real people I am afraid.

Tuned properly once. All other times shit went wrong with your awesome setup. Also a re-tune because he had to replace the defective turbo. Will be dyno'd when we get time.

It was running like shit yet you just blamed the tune even though you had no clue that the turbo to manifold gasket was blown? Real smart diagnosis there.

Oh, and here is some proof that you have no clue.

Here is a Vipec base map for the CA and SR. Very similar to the powerfc.

Here is the map I was given on a USB that came from YOU.

I've squared the section that you need to focus on. So what was going on in the 8,000rpm row? Missed a spot? just decided to run 14 degrees less in the last 1000 rpm? Real neat that. Nice transitions..

Few holes in it too by the looks.

This is why no one should ever listen to you regarding tunes.

Oh, and one more thing, Andrews car was also running bad because he was also blowing intercooler pipes off all day.

But, just blame the tune in your simple mind.

Edited by The Mafia

Its all good. The car blows gaskets and intercooler pipes, and without even looking at the car, you seem to know for sure its the tune. Goes to show how knowledgeable you are, and your problem with some jealous spiteful shit.

There is one thing I have learned over the years and that is:

Fighting between two people in this industry will get you nowhere. It's all heresay and bullshit mostly from both sides in most cases.

LET YOUR NUMBERS DO THE TALKING!

Nick, build a tough car

Jono, make the CA produce a tyresmoke show

At the end of the day, who gives a f*ck? I've had big name workshops rag me out to their customers and mine. sure, I've made mistakes...on cars and in business management in general. But we all learn from it and get better. You can't get better unless you make mistakes and learn from them. Getting into a war over it just leads to headaches and everyone looking stupid. Then when you build a car that runs an 8, everyone shuts the f*ck up.

What Dysonest said a few pages back was absolutely correct (and this is not directed at you Mafia) but both of you - let your customers toot your horn for you.

Now someone get me a frickin' beer!

I don't see a problem with showing a bit of confidence in what you do. If someone asks what your product is like, or if I am making a comment, should I say "Yeah, I dunno what they are like hey".

Yeah I make a point of 'no comment' when people ask about other workshops. It's just not worth the shitfight. We get lots of work that comes from other places and they might get some from us as well, I dunno. But defaming another person or business is just like punching on with family, pointless and irresponsible.

Unless your uncle is trying to crack onto your gf, then it's ok

I just do mine own work and don't pay no flamin mongrel to touch any of my cars except for 2 elite people in the business other than that you guys can bitch all you want at the end of the day i ain't gonna be your customer and i sure as hell don't want any customers from around this joint, and i don't care what people say about me as my car's do the talking for me. I don't have to go out on Thursday nights at the harbour to big note my crack to everyone, if you produce quality cars then people will wanna do business with you clear and simple it's not f**king rocket science. But i too have enjoyed the read  .

Ben i would love to see you troll down to the harbour on a Thursday night, so many people be droolin'

I used to draw to much attention when i had my R33 GTR cops would not leave me alone and i got sick of people leaning and sitting all over it and taking bullshit telling me how to modify my car when they themselves had not f**king idea about how a GTR works lol.

    • Also, I logged some data from the ECU for each session (mostly oil pressures and various temps, but also speed, revs etc, can't believe I forgot accelerator position). The Ecutek data loads nicely to datazap, I got good data from sessions 2, 3 and 4: https://datazap.me/u/duncanhandleyhgeconsultingcomau/250813-wakefield-session-2?log=0&data=7 https://datazap.me/u/duncanhandleyhgeconsultingcomau/250813-wakefield-session-3?log=0&data=6 https://datazap.me/u/duncanhandleyhgeconsultingcomau/250813-wakefield-session-4?log=0&data=6 Each session is cut into 3 files but loaded together, you can change between them in the top left. As the test sessions are mostly about the car, not me, I basically start by checking the oil pressure (good, or at least consistent all day). These have an electrically controlled oil pump which targets 25psi(!) at low load and 50 at high. I'm running a much thicker oil than recommended by nissan (they said 0w20, I'm running 10w40) so its a little higher. The main thing is that it doesn't drop too far, eg in the long left hand fish hook, or under brakes so I know I'm not getting oil surge. Good start. Then Oil and Coolant temp, plus intercooler and intake temps, like this: Keeping in mind ambient was about 5o at session 2, I'd say the oil temp is good. The coolant temp as OK but a big worry for hot days (it was getting to 110 back in Feb when it was 35o) so I need to keep addressing that. The water to air intercooler is working totally backwards where we get 5o air in the intake, squish/warm it in the turbos (unknown temp) then run it through the intercoolers which are say 65o max in this case, then the result is 20o air into the engine......the day was too atypical to draw a conclusion on that I think, in the united states of freedom they do a lot of upsizing the intercooler and heat exchanger cores to get those temps down but they were OK this time. The other interesting (but not concerning) part for me was the turbo speed vs boost graph: I circled an example from the main straight. With the tune boost peaks at around 18psi but it deliberately drops to about 14psi at redline because the turbos are tiny - they choke at high revs and just create more heat than power if you run them hard all the way. But you can also see the turbo speed at the same time; it raises from about 180,000rpm to 210,000rpm which the boost falls....imagine the turbine speed if they held 18psi to redline. The wastegates are electrically controlled so there is a heap of logic about boost target, actual boost, delta etc etc but it all seems to work well
    • hahah when youtube subscribers are faster than my updates here. Yes some vid from the day is up, here:  Note that as with all track day videos it is boring watching after the bloopers at the start.  The off was a genuine surprise to me, I've literally done a thousand laps around the place and I've never had instability there; basically it rolled into oversteer, slipped, gripped and spat me out. On the way off I mowed down one of the instructor's cones and it sat there all day looking at me with accusing cone eyes as I drove past. 1:13:20 was my fastest lap, and it was in the second session, 3rd lap.  It (or me!) got slower throughout the day as it got hotter.
    • It sounds like you want what the Toyota Landcruisers have for their roof racks. Wanna know what you end up with? Rust holes in the roof, and water everywhere...
    • Discovered today that if I select reverse first and take my foot off the brake, then select drive, the drive indicator light works and so does the tiptronic gear indicator.
    • Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is maybe 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Does anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys
