Ok Time for my thank yous

Firstly I would like to thank Anna, with out her I dont think it would have gone ahead, When I was getting nowhere with the officials Anna took over and pestered them until we got the answers we needed, Further more organising it so that we got the required people with the required forms at the required place took a massive behind the scenes effort

Secondly I would like to thank all the members who took the time to put thier cars on display, the cars looked great guys! So thanks to Shane, Mark, Damo, Ben, Franky and Jarrad

Then I would like to thank all the people who helped set up on friday night Marc, Karen, Shane and Dave in particualr as thier cars were not even on display and they put in the hard yards! (Did I miss anyone?)

CHRIS! A massive thanks to you for the awesome Dj ing! Your set up really added a lot to this display

Dale, Benno, Troy and others thanks so much for helping us man the stand

And Shane thanks for the printing you gave us and for knocking off the screens from work lol

All up the event was a sucess with at least 10 genuinely interested people taking membership forms (Even if only half of them come back that is a good thing!) and many more showing interest in SCC so Congrats every one and thanks for making me not look like a fool by keeping the display from flopping!

Thanks bunts

I would like to thank everybody that helped me out. Andy epecially for getting this thing up and running in the first place, organising people to sumit their nominations, and for first contacting Alisa @ Auto Salon (even though she did ignore you after a while ).

Shane copped a massive pestering from me about forms and fliers etc. and they looked great :(

Andy has pretty well thanked everyone, but i'd like to say thanks also to Benno and Shaneo who took the SCC fliers down to the carpark and put them on every skyline windscreen they could find. Massive effort guys, thanks :O

Overall, I think it was a success, and for our first AS entry, I think it looked great! We had a lot of interest in membership and the SCC, and it was great to just hang out with other like minded people all weekend. Sunday afternoon was interesting, by 5 we'd pretty well gone insane with lack of sleep, and started our own hoedown and groin-thrust dance out front of the stand. :yucky:

Cheers, Anna xoxo

I had a ball and my voice is totally f@#$ed now. My ears are still ringing from all the bass, but totally worth it. I think next year will be even better with the lessons we have learnt.

The groin thrust dancing was very interesting and drew a lot of admirers.

Dinner at Sizzler afterwards was another great idea and I at least ate some near decent food finally after a weekend of dip, lollies and soft drinks!!

I think next year will be even better with the lessons we have learnt.

Agreed. i think some fundraising is on the cards to pay for some bling bling on our display... or pay off the judges either works for me.

Oh i'm glad i'm not the only one missing my voice... although for me, that's possibly a very GOOD thing :yucky:

oo0o00oooo bling bling yeh!

I disagree Shane, I think our stand was well received because it was about the cars and the fact they looked like they were driven on a daily basis and not track/show cars only. I think the parachutes were a brilliant idea and Damo should be thanked for his ability to get them. Everyone else was taping cloth to the floor and we looked good for our simplicity. We also looked like we were enjoying ourselves so more people stopped and read the signs, literature and asked questions. Even if the question was "who are these weirdos??" And the videos from Chris were awesome!! I had the best time because of that music!! Thank you Chris.

No Problems guys, it was easy. I would to say that we all did a great job and I think that the SCC will be a huge hit as we promoted the hell out of it, to probably the majority of the skyline community who dont frequent SAU.com.

Once again WELL DONE TEAM.

You guys had a good display, well done. Was a good mix of cars, although a distinct lack of 33 sedans :D, and I have to say the parachute floor covering idea is definately the go.

After the "little" problem we had with the organisers which meant over half of our group (including myself) pulled out we were lucky enough to get one trophy, the editors choice for Jamie's (Drpsi) Starlet.

not bad numbers indeed

i didnt realise ur car was a gts-t until i had a close look at the engine bay :D

are we going to see you guys on the SCC (skyline charity cruise, formerly MSC) on 3rd december?

yep just a GTS-t :O - does actually have RB25/30 engine

would love to make it 2 the cruise hopefully, but only a few ppl who normally like to dress up in blue that turn me off the whole cruise scene :D

but come on, it'd beat the pants off more than a few gtr's going around :D

last years cruise we didnt have any drama from the boys in blue, they were looking at us at the aspley hypermarket, and one tailed us for a lil bit when we left there, but other than that they werent around to annoy us.

Everyone else was taping cloth to the floor and we looked good for our simplicity.

haha yeah that was us - spent ages laying it out & taping it down :)

a few comments were made from quite a few of our members that we shoulda just had one big piece of material like u guys - woulda saved us heaps of time!

it was a great day and haning out at the stand all day made me very happy especially seeing all my mates it was a great day and met some awesome and some1 very excited over those models :) some1 just enjoyed those models

but thanks guys and girls that were there it made my day great

The one thing about SAU I really like is that most of the wonderful people don’t do stupid things that bring cops down on us. SAU is conservative and friendly club where everyone gets a chance.

I cruse with allot of the other Brisbane clubs and I always leave SAU events allot happier for having attended.

Cheers to everyone in SAU for being so approachable and friendly

    • All the schemas I can see, indicate your typical setup of ATF 'cooler' (read: heat exchanger) in the bottom radiator tank..ie; https://nissan.epc-data.com/stagea/wgnc34/5413-rb25det/engine/214/ ...but I can prattle on a bit here. These trannies have a thermistor in the sump ~ the TCU reads this and 1. bumps the line pressure up when the ATF is 'cold' and 2. prevents the TC lockup clutch from operating, until the ATF comes up to minimum operating temp (keeps the ATF 'churning' through the TC so it heats up quicker) -- trigger point is around 55C. In these conditions, the engine coolant temperature rises faster than the ATF temperature, and also helps heat the ATF up, which is why it's best to think of the in radiator tank setup as a heat exchanger ; the heat can flow in both directions... ...with these trannies, the 'hot' ATF comes out the front banjo bolt, flows through the cooler/heat exchanger, and returns to the box  via the rear banjo bolt. This gets a mention, due to the wildly different opinions wrt running auto trans fluid coolers ~ do you bypass the in radiator tank altogether, or put the cooler inline with the in radiator tank system...and then, do you put the additional cooler before of after the in radiator tank system?... ....fact is the nominal engine operating temp (roughly 75C), happens to be the ideal temperature for the ATF used in these trannies as well (no surprises there), so for the in radiator tank system to actually 'cool' the ATF, the ATF temp has to be hotter than that...lets say 100C -- you've got 25C of 'excess' heat, (slowly) pumping into the 75C coolant. This part of the equation changes drastically, when you've got 100C ATF flowing through an air cooled radiator ; you can move a lot more excess heat, faster ~ it is possible to cool the ATF 'too much' as it were...(climate matters a lot)... ...in an 'ideal' setup, what you're really trying to control here, is flash heating of the ATF, primarily produced by the TC interface. In a perfect world, wrt auto trans oil cooling, you want a dedicated trans cooler with builtin thermostatic valving - they exist. These should be run inline and before the in radiator tank system ~ when 'cold' the valving bypasses the fin stack, allowing the ATF to flow direct to the in radiator tank heat exchanger, so it works 'as intended' with helping heat the ATF up. When 'hot' (iirc it was 50C threshold), the valving shuts forcing the ATF through the cooler fin stack, and onto the in radiator tank heat exchanger...and you sort of think of it as a 'thermal conditioner' of sorts...ie; if you did cool your ATF down to 65C, the coolant will add a little heat, otherwise it works as intended... ...the 'hot' ATF coming from the front bango bolt, is instantiated from the TC when in use, so all/any flash heated oil, flows to the fluid-to-air cooler first, and because of the greater heat differential, you can get rid of this heat fast. Just how big (BTU/h) this cooler needs to be to effectively dissipate this TC flash heat, is the charm...too many variables to discuss here, but I just wanted to point out the nitty-gritty of automatic trans fluid coolers ~ they're a different beastie to what most ppl think of when considering an 'oil cooler'... /3.5cents
    • Been a busy but productive day. Axle and hubs acquired. All fitted up after a bit of modifying. Need to sort out wider mudguards and running light reflector covers but other than that the trailer is gooood to go !!
    • Selling a SMIC for a Nissan Stagea C34 Series 2 and the pipe from the intercooler to inlet. (I believe it is the same R34 GTT, please correct me if I'm wrong) Price: $50? I dont have a photo of the big black pipe that goes from SMIC outlet to throttle body.
    • So the original radiator is leaking now. Looking at getting a fully aluminium one next. Am I correct in saying that the Series 2 Auto Stageas have a separate trans cooler from factory (located in between the rad and intercooler in my previous post/message).   Currently looking at Fenix $460, Blitz $700, GReddy $800, and KoyoRad $740. What are everyones thought on Fenix ( ive read a few comments saying theyre cheap Chinese rebrands etc and how their build quality is... well.. chinese...)  compared to the others? Worth the extra couple hundies?
