I suggest you you check the Looking for a Professional thread at the top of this forum and get in touch with Marty (FHRX) who would be able to quote on something like this.

Qu: Why do you want to upgrade your alternator though?

Thanks, waiting on a PM from marty, I PM'd him before asking this question.

Want to upgrade alternator because i dont think its supplying enough. It could be that i just need to re-earth and run new power cables (which I plan to do) but the alternator is the original one, and they are meant to be changed every 40,000kms or something aren't they?

Any rough guess on cost?

Thoughts on the false floor setup?

I don't think the alternator would need to be changed as long as it's still working. New earths / deep cycle battery / decent wire should be sufficient.

Cost would vary depending on how complex your install is (eg if you needed fibreglassing, etc). False floor is a nice touch. Probably need more Dynamat too.

If you go ahead with this I want pics! :P

I want a simple, neat HOT install. No curved edges, no fibreglass,

MORE dynamat? I thought I had enough with the bulk kit AND the trunk kit.

i dont want any fibreglassing...just MDF and glass (not perspex, want glass i think).

just 1 x 10" sub mounted in the corner in flush sitting box (just MDF with carpet)

got 0G wiring kit for the new earths and a fairly new battery - not deep cycle.

and 4G wiring kit for the two amps (doesnt have to reach far for the R33 battery being in the boot).

One of the guys on caraudioaustralia reckons about $3-$4g.... bit more than i was expecting, might have to bring this down by leaving the alternator out, and maybe sound deadening myself.

$poa !

that would take 2 weeks if done as described and roughly $88/hr in my books

should give you and idea.

$7g???? (88$/hr x 8hrs x 10 days)

Damn

its not a show car install, its just a false floor...didnt think it would cost quite that much $7000 is a lot considering there is no fiberglass work being done.

Alternator is not being changed now, just upgrading the battery to a yellowtop instead.

I personally wouldnt use actual glass in a boot... But thats me.

Really dude your going to get a lot of different quotes. It comes down to how much time people are going to use doing it. I mean you could get something dodgy for $1k, or spend $10k and get something super fancy all set up 100% right...

Why not glass in the boot? I dont want perspex that will scratch, the reason i want a false floor is so that i can still use the boot.

im trying to find a happy medium... 10k is way more than i want to spend.... but i dont want to spend $1000 and have something dodgey. I dont want super fancy. i dont want fancy at all. I just want neat, clean and hot. No curves, no fibreglass, just straight walls, 1 sub box and a flat floor done properly though.

ok that knocks a week off the job. custom work is time and usually lots of it.

:( sweet.

It will still be "custom" work so to speak. But straight edges and flat panels. I know how all the little things add up in time, and how long it takes to do unusual shapes etc hence why i am not doing it myself (and i want everything to line up nicely too)

Might still have a bash at sound deadening so Marty has more time to spend elsewhere. I think that is the easiest thing for me to have a go at myself.

yeh nice...

I dont want it to be "rice"... well not too much. not over the top

Keep the pictures coming... if anyone has any photos of their installs in 33's post them up to give me more ideas.

Most of the ones i have found from searching are a bit over the top, autosalon style.

    • Hey guys! Y'all are the masters so figured I'd check in on a few items here. - My engine sounds ever-so-slightly more raspy than the other NA RB25s I've listened to. It's barely noticeable but definitely a slightly different sound. - When I back off the throttle at high RPM, I will sometimes get a pop out of the exhaust, assuming this can be diagnosed as misfire. Some history on the car: - Had an exhaust leak in auction sheet but was claimed to be fixed by seller (bought from USA importer).  - Car's coil packs and sparks were replaced when it was sold to me, but unsure on what the gap is and whether the coil packs are correct.  - A prior mechanic had misdiagnosed a pilot or throwout bearing sound as LSPI/detonation. Had played with timing a bit, pops/raspy sound of engine just got worse. Got timing reset. - Had failed emissions a few times. First time went in as is, failed. Second time, replaced cat, still failed, running rich as hell. Third time replaced o2 sensor, passed. Car still smells gassy though. - Timing belt and valve cover gasket also replaced.  - Gas mileage is... low. about 350-400K per tank.  Any idea if I'm having any serious issues here or does this all sound like normal old NA RB stuff and I'm fine to drive it with the pops/slightly raspy engine? If it'll help, I can get drop a video of the sound of the engine.
    • So....to find any R chassis part number, get your VIN (will be something like ER33-xxxxxx for you) and go to: https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/nissan and enter it. From there you have access to a web version of Nissan's part system, FAST. It is a bit tricky to get used to, so maybe have a shot and post up what you think.  You can also search by general model but note in some cases your car might have different options so VIN is safest.  On diagram 211 I got 14075-75T16 for Connector, Water Hose If I search for part 14053‑21U10 that you posted, that is also a water hose but not the one bolted to the plenum and 14075‑04U00 is the fitting where the water hose goes into the block.
    • Yeah now we are talking I much prefer coolers in the front middle because it lessens the chance of a small bump to a corner stopping the whole event. I was thinking the AT cooler can move out of the radiator, delete the AT/engine coolant interwarmer and mount a separate cooler with a thermoswitch somewhere further back as is common in racing, that would be one thing. Beyond that, the engine oil cooler is an obvious one to move to the wheel arch, potentially one on each side, but unused space is an issue. I did have a earlier pic with the bumper off but it doesn't show how busy the corners are: DS is full of the auto driving sensors and PS is totally fully of windscreen washer fluid reservoir But ultimately I was hoping to keep the AC, and the water/air heat exchanger is fundamental so it is not just the radiator that needs to be in front BTW here's airflow to the rad as it ran at the track (one horn is gone now and I'll remove the lights next time):
    • your right the maps for Australia came out in 2017 but are 2010 maps. i got the updated maps SD card put it in and it was the same. Same maps in my Brothers Nissan Patrol. 2020 i think his car is
