This morning i was putting to work when a fourby hammered past, flicking a rock which put a lil crack in the corner of my windscreen. Which, over the course of about 5 minutes, spread down and in to just about the centre of my windscreen. Its beyond repair - has anyone had to replace their windscreen, or a windscreen on an imported car in general???? should i buy glass that ive seen on yahoo japan and have it sent over then fitted??? or can they get the glass for stageas here?

I had to replace my GTR windscreen after I put my fist through it :)

Easy job though, did it at Obriens and it was covered by insurance.

much of a wait for the glass? and what year GTR? Cos skylines are pretty common now, but stageas.... arent....

Within 2 days of owning my current R33 GTST my window suffered the same fate. (June this year)

$220 fitted at O'Briens - insurance then reimbursed me. They fitted the same day too - got one of their guys to go to the Newcastle warehouse and get one for me!

That's pretty cheap.. Did they come to your house? or You went to them?

I got quoted $450 for a new windscreen. Think one of the NSW SAU members paid $400 for their new windscreen from obriens too..

I went to them....seeing as its only a 5 minute drive from my house!

I had a hole in the window from a rock on the F3 - got home parked in the garage, went out the next morning to get the hole repaired - soon as the sun hit it cracked the whole way across and was not fixable anymore :O

They were pretty good though - went in about 9.30am and they said they only had them in stock in Newcastle sooooo they sent a driver up there to grab one and dropped my car back at 1pm to get fitted.

*** just checked my receipt and was definitely $220 fitted - maybe they made an error when they quoted me? ***

Do a search, ring up Novus in Burpengary dude, they did mine just after I bought mine about a year ago, dunno how much it cost, was covered under insurance, but they alluded that it was no more or less than avgerage falodore.

hmmmm might insure the bastard THEN make some calls

alternatetivley i could get a couple of screens over from yahoo auctions, have one fitted and keep one as a spare in case it happens again, or i can sell it on when it happens to someone else i guess. Most of the cash just goes on shipping.

Just to dig up an old thread, I got a nice crack in my windscreen on the weekend. Started out as just a small 2 cm crack but being 3 hours outside of Brisbane and doing 110 caused it to become about a 30 cm crooked crack in no time at all  Now I have read the other threads and it seems that Novus in Burpengary are the guys to go to. My question is that I can see a black dotted strip around the outer edges of the windscreen, and isn't the switch on the dash to the right of where the ignition is some sort of windscreen defogging or defroster (for ice and such), the one you puch once to turn on and once to turn off and has a little orange light on the top of it. If I'm right is that black dotted strip anything to do with that and if it is do the aftermarket ones have them.....just curious, and if I'm wrong about that button what the hell does it do???

Nah to the right of the ignition key barrel. I wasn't sure what it did, the only reason I thought it was something to do with the windscreen was from reading the factory japanese manual I have and going by the pics  And yes I know the a/c heated air is to demist.

anyway as long as it has nothing to do with the windscreen or those little dotted black lines have nothing to do with anything then I don't mind getting an aftermarket one. Thats my only concern. Can anyone tell me what this switch does then???

    • Is the panel filter one that is oiled? Have you ever cleaned or touched the AFM?
    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
