hey guys

firstly must say - Thanks for all the info and helping out with questions that i had, i can now say i'm officially a stagea owner!

Bought a 99 RS4 - black - stock with set of rims / dvd player. (its MattD's car off of here)

drove it back to SA from Vic yesterday and didnt miss a beat, very comfortable ride.

i have a couple of questions though...

1 - the cargo barrier - how do i set it up, i have the book cover (retractable thing) do i need to remove this first? i tried today but couldnt figure it out, it just seemed too short.

2 - xenon bulbs - i have them, but how do i re-fit them to the car?

i will try get pics up asap, just busy atm with getting it SA rego'd etc.

thanks

-Matt

Nice work Matt!

Can't help you with either of your questions as I don't have that gear but I am sure someone will chime in soon and help you out.

Cheers

Luke

P.S. I will let Ska do the "welcome to your new aDdIcTiOn" thing...

The cargo barrier fits into a bit at the end of the handles that run along the roof behind the back seat and you need the boot cover in ther to tie it to, with the velcro. At least that is how mine fits in.

Xenons, no idea sorry.

The cargo net can also be hooked to the holes "revealed" when you remove the little tie-down hooks on the ledge just below the windows, and just in front of the handles that fold the seats down - you'll find that the pole for the cargo net extends to meet the holes on each side of the luggage area.

I spent AGES wondering how the rear hooks on the ceiling worked!! Thanks for that - will give it a shot when I get the chance just so I know how it goes...

I worked out the normal installation of the cargo net ok (just behind the rear seats - connecting to the rear struts) but always wondered why there is a second set of hooks on the ceiling a bit further back - well now I know :P

so many little tricks with the stagea...its like a swiss army knife lol!

oh and congrats on the purchase Matt!! I look forward to checking it out on sunday at the photoshoot - assuming you'll be there ;) (also hoping you bring the stag instead of or as well as the ceffy).

no worries. was 2 stageas there (including mine). The other one belonged to stagen(sp?) from this forum. He happened to pull up next to me at the lights today near TTP so I told him about the photoshoot and he ended up coming along :)

no other stags turned up - bit disappointing but still cool to see all the 'lines "lined" up... check the SA section for pics - should look good. I'll upload some here when I get time...

nearly didn't make it there myself - was quite busy but ended up rushing home to vacuum and wash the car before taking off down to west beach. Most people didn't stay that long - just long enough to get some good "official" photos and then go home

urgghhhh .... wasn't me. Unless someone took my stagea for a road trip to SA ... which would explain where my petrol went!!! :)

Great looking car ... love them in black thats for sure!!!

Nah I was never going to the photoshoot - Im still recovering from the patellectomy to my right knee. Cant drive that far. Only driven twice, for 5mins 2 weeks ago just to get outa the house, and 15mins on Saturday morning to get the car service products I needed, for tomorrows turbo upgrade, etc.

Hope it went well there Steve!

Huddy nice Stagea, black is mean thats for sure. I reckon some 18inch 'dark smoke' grey mags would look real-nice :O Hope you are enjoying the Stagea.

Get a Dolphin Aeroform body kit.

Motivation Imports sell copies for ~$1200 a full kit. The car ends up looking as such.

av-20653.jpg

If you want to buy that kit, ill give you $400 for your DAYZ front bar and $300 for the pair of sideskirts, plus $100 delivery to melbourne.

Let me know if you are keen mate.

    • You're onto something here... Maybe that's his plan all along, he's just pretending to leave it stock then nek minnit, LS Bogan MX5
    • He could just take the Bogan Cruise Ships setup... Already got a good setup, with blower, the auto was rebuilt too wasn't it? Perfect time for him to upgrade the tailshaft, diff, and axles...    And wouldn't need to waste money on redoing the Commos seats, as he could just buy race seats for the 5...   As a highly modded car he could avoid the ability to give it away to offspring too when they crash their cars...
    • It's really interesting how much it's moving left to right, and doesn't appear to be actually spreading. For this to be moving left to right, without flaring, means unequal forces being applied until equilibrium hits in one way or another.   Reasons it could be unequal; Piston sizes left to right are different sizes. Only minute differences. Pistons moving on different planes. That is, are they moving directly straight at each other, or slightly out of alignment. The fluid is restricted getting to one side.   Some tests you could do. Pull the bleeders on the left and right, fit each side with pressure gauges. It will allow you to make sure pressure is equal (and really, it should be as fluid flow is so damn low, so fluid flow dynamics shouldn't come into it).   With the calipers off the car, have both sides retracted as far as possible, measure very very accurately (think micrometre) distances between opposing pistons in four different spots per set of pistons. Firstly, on each opposing pistons pair, the measures on for different spots should be equal. If it's not, and especially if one spot appears to actually get closer compared to another, the pistons aren't aligned, and now the forces left to right won't be equal, as they're the forces fighting each other.   You can also pull all the pistons out, and very very accurately measure the diameter of them. If they're not equal left to ight in the pairings, and especially if the area of the pistons on one side is different to the area on the other overall, it'll all be out of whack.   My bet, is shit QC in making sure the pistons move in the same plane left vs right. Some minor out of square machining, and nothing will line up, things will want to move around.
    • Whilst putting a V8 in a MX5 would be fun, it would negate the whole cheap to run fun daily that the MX5 will be used for If I wanted a faster little convertible I would have got a engine check light, I mean a BMW Z4 M, but going off the issues that the guy at work who recently got one is having, it is lucky I didn't  Meh, horses for courses, the Bogan Cruise Ship is my go to for some horse torques
