89 Gearbox

just wondering if anyone out there knows what auto gearbox will fit my 89 skyline wagon...

i bought a box of a bloke who reckoned it was in a 89 skyline with the rb30 but the mechanic reckons the computer wont control the box even though it will bolt in. who do i beleive?

There are two transmissions in the R31 skylines. The early 86-88 Jatco box will go in, but won't work with your ECU and trans ECU. You need to make sure you have a very late 88-90 full electronic auto for your 89 R31 Skyline.

Your mechanic is probably right. Hit the R31 Skyline forum (www.r31skylineclub.com) and do a search for someone selling a series 3 Electronic auto.

I just threw out a complete series 1/2 and a complete series 3 auto setups as no-one was interested!
