Im going to have to sell my r33 because of lack of any insurance reasons, I need $31,000 to get my money back.

Its a 11/96 white series 2 R33. It has a sunroof and a Navtrak car monitoring security system, Avs wheels. it has 53000kms and 7 month rego left. All mecanically Perfect.

Does anyone reckon id get that kind of money for it?

even when you buy a brand spanking new car, the moment the car pass the dealer's showroom door, the value drops like $3k or something...

it hurts, but that's the truth... you won't get $31k out of your line, probably would be just about $22-24k with so many direct importers around that can offer a better condition, cheaper price for the same car as yours.

yeah 31 wont happen... I do think that if your car is absolutely immaculate that you could get up to 26k. Given its a late model 33. That said, for 25k ive seen series 2's with front mounts, suspension, exhaust etc... But you never know, there might always be someone that will pay you 26k. Someone who doesnt know a whole lot about skylines though, and hey, there are plenty of people who dont have a clue, so you might get lucky.

Best thing to do if you want top dollar is advertise it high, you can always come down.

With cars you will always loose money, only modify a car for YOURSELF! I have spent alot of money on my car, as have alot of other members in this forum, and i know that if i sell it (and i don't intend to!) i will only get a few thousand dollars above market value (maybe 22-21K).

Sorry buddy but that is life. You should always get quotes for insurance B4 buying the car. I wanted to but a standard WRX but was not able to get insurance for it. The same company was willing to insure me with an R33, with any legal mods. Now i thank the insurance company for the illogical regulations, that lead me to purchase my car.

a5h, your car only cost 23grand?! sounds like a bargain. What size rims did it come with? Did you buy it privately?

33's a real performance bargains these days! and you also get a 'nice' comfy car of reasonable size. If you look at 32 prices, many still as high as 19grand in some cases! Just a few grand more and you can gt a 33! But i hope with the new import laws that the prices wont keep dropping. Any cheaper and it would be ridiculous!

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
