Sub And Amp In Boot Question

Hi,

on the weekend im installing my car audio stuff into my new R33. Now this is the first skyline ive owned and the boot isnt very big. i have a rear strut brace in the back to. My question is, what is behind the back boot panel? Is it hollow behing there? If i remove the panel will i be able to make the box sit further back so i dont take up so much boot space or is there something behind there? and i jus plan on working around my strut brace.

just pull the carpet foward and see 4 ya self..

there is battery on left / hicas unit / some fuses and yeh

only thing you could use the space for is mounting / hiding an amplifier to save space

haha umm guess not will c tho...

not a chance... unless you remove everything and somehow relocate it.....

whatever you guys have done with that space upload some pics so i can get some ideas to what to do with my amps...

If you are in sydney, then i suggest you go to marty.. Whos marty.. well the guy who posted above me lol (FHRX) hhehe..

Anyways if got two 10 inch subs, then you might have some trouble mounting them above the fuel pump..

You will be able to squeeze your amp in there tho!!

Or you can always take your space saver out and you gotyour self more room..

I bought a Jaycar 4ch 100wrms amp to replace my bigger amp, because it fits perfectly in there!

Running one 12" sub in a box on the right-hand side of the boot. Well... the entire right-hand side of the boot really! =-/

Hi guys i have made 2 separate boxes measured up perfect to fit one on the left and one on the right for the 2 12" Subs also got some wood too make it my front wall and the Amp which is pretty big too (Rockford P4004) is drilled to it looks pretty good too, really simple doesn't leave room for anything else thou ;) i may have a photo if you don't know what i am talking about.

im gonna mount my amps in there... well 1... my alpine amp will have to be shown

you spend enough on some stereo stuff you want some of it to be shown...

:-P

I got some info from the thread mentioned above and put my amp over the fuel tank and 12" Sub in the right rear corner, fibreglassed up a seald box for it. Didn't come up too bad and haven't lost much space.

hey man whered you get this custom sub box???

is this a good position to recieve bass in the front cabin..?

are you using 1 of these?

what would happen if you used 2 of these boxes 1 either side... would their be any cancellation or what?

i need these sub boxes!

how does that 1 type s 12 sound?

i am contemplating 1 type r 12 or maybe 2

I don't have any pics, but i have a two amps mounted in that space. I have my 12" Sub in a separate box in the boot... lol i stapled Velcro onto the bottom of the box and it just sticks to the carpet in the boot (which is glues + stapled to the board thing that covers the space-saver) and stops it sliding around.

got 1 x pioneer 12inch + 1 x pioneer 800w amp... threw the space saver away amp gets mounted on some wood and cut to a circular shape (so it sits perfectly at the bottom of the spare wheel well) and thrown in there then the carpet crap that covers that goes on top then sub in middle :laugh:

      Hang on. Let me get this straight. The desire is to have coilovers, BC in particular, to be MORE comfortable on Sydney roads than stock suspension? Well, that's obviously not right. BCs have crude damping design at the very best, and typically hard spring rates. BC stands for Billy Cart. And then, the desire is to put in some shitty old worn out stockers, to get it blue slipped and then put the BCs back in? And then.....what? Not worry about getting pulled up by the Plod? Because you seem to have raised a worry about paying for engineering (which actually does solve all your legality problems) and still getting pulled up.... but the only problem there is that if/when that happens you have to show your paperwork at the inspection station. Whereas, if you just swap in borrowed shitty old stockers to get it slipped now, and then you get defected in the future, you have to go find more shitty old stockers then too. You course of action looks like this set of options: Buy brand new stock type dampers, and springs. probably cost a bit more than $1k all up, but will last for the remaining life of the car. Put them in, pass inspection, drive on them forever more. Hell, they could even be really nice Bilsteins and Kings or other lower&stiffer springs if you wanted. Get the car engineered as is. ~$1k. Buy new Shockworks coilvers (or MCA) and also pay for engineering. You're spending a lot more here. But these will be the best things that you could drive around on.

      Might be worthwhile hitting up Facebook's groups, I know most of them contain terrible people and scammers - however you might be able to find someone that's in Sydney with factory suspension you could purchase and/or hire. Just do not send any form of money anywhere, in person cash only.

      Thanks @Duncan Ride height is fine. I think it's almost stock tbh. Happy to share a pic. I don't actually have a regular mechanic as haven't lived in Sydney too long. Could you or anyone recommend any shops in Sydney?
