Hi,

Whats the filter for that tank on the left side of the engine?

Is it a Surge Tank?

I am thinking of adding some Grill with Vents that guide the air to the left side of the hold. This way all the water mist will be block off by it and non will actually get to the filter.

Dunno where can i get one done thought..

Lambo, tis an oil catch can.

I dont like where it is though... in fact i dont even like the thing altogether. its way bigger than it needs to be, and just clutters up the engine bay.

as far as diverting blow-by from your inlet, if youre not using a proper (legal) separator, you may as well skip buying a catch can and lead the breather hoses under the bloody car. its a defect either way, and the latter is much neater.

as to your problem... if you ask me, you simply need a deflector to shield the pod from direct water spray and debrit. i dont believe vents are necessary as air will be sucked into the pod from anywhere and everywhere. the cooler air outside the engine bay does not need to be blowing onto the pod, as long as the pod is out of the engine bay, the cooler air wil be sucked into the pod from all directions. If youre planning to make it yourself, dont make it more complicated than it needs to be.

good luck.

oh, do you like my turbos? :(

Lambo, a fine mesh filter will help stop large sprays of water hitting the filter, but you will also need to make sure the filter itself is still water resistant.

I'm not sure what filter you have there right now, but I think the Blitz filter is made of a fine mesh metal itself. That could be the way to go from there. Just be wary of rust ;)

Hi Instant.

I was very vigilant when it came to monitoring the setup for the first few weeks, and the filter remained completely dry on every occasion.

I havent had any problems in any rainy weather condition.

But I wont be performing any shallow water crossings.

In regards to the front left tyre, you can see in file, "intake 007.jpg" and "intake 008.jpg", that the filter is completely protected.

Yeah, I have wondered have an officer might say about it, if anything at all. I'll let you know if I'm unfortunate enough to have the experience (touch wood).

See ya.

ive got the same setup

got pulled over 2 weeks ago copper said "wheres ur air filter" i told him "its inside the bar behind the spot light" he goes "well i cant see it as far as im concerened theres no filter there" i told him "have a close look" he says "nup cant see it so from wat i can tell u dont have one"

-i got defected for not having an air filter

-then he said the car was too low with out measuring shit

-then he said the wheels LOOKED too big without checking any numbers

-then my exhaust wasnt standard so he put that down too

apparently half of the parts of my interior were a drefect too but he didnt list em

back to the air filter part he told me that basically if ur filter isnt in an enclosed airbox as standard its a defect because "it creates undue noise and unfavourably alters the cars air/fuel ratio"

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
