Bugger. Kinda like mine does. Having toasted old fords and valiants i thought it was axle tramp :( Guess a stock clutch can take only so much shit. How hardcore is it worth going if i'm chasing about 250rwkw?

I get a shudder on launch, keeping in mind that i have a fair amount of mechanical sympathy and i'm launching under 3k. Also had some slippage on boost before I adjusted my clutch pedal right out.

um, it will slip. Like under load in 4th, the revs might increase if you stamp it up a hill, but the speed won't.

it will get worse and slip in 3rd, then in 2nd, then you'll be crawling along at 20km/h and it will be slipping, then you won't be able to move at all when it finally dies.

not sure if this is clutch slippage...but i assume it is..

the car is r33gtst '95 with 100,000km+ on the clock

the car still has the stock clutch

the problem is:

the car pulls in second gear if you dont "forcefully" accelerate , then if i stamp it abit......it cleanly revs to about 5-7 '000 revs then as it pulls again, the revs drop!!! Clutch SLIPPAGE???

Notice the clutch is getting softer these days

3rd through to 5th Gear definitely not pulling as well

starting to happen in 2nd

first gear still ok

could it be something else...other than the clutch?

any ideas?

assuming its the clutch, do you guys know what type do these skylines use push, pull?

thanks in advance :santa:

kind regards,

Clutch burn has a very nasty smell. Can you smell anything?

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
