jrocket
Hey all. I found out recently that my ecu had been modified while it was in japan (yeah and whos hasen't). They put a "Central 20, SPL Computer Brain" ecu chip in it. My questionis does any one know anything about these ecu's. I would like to get it reprogrammed but don't know where to go for this. I hear that these ecu's are not that common and not many tuners do these units. Is there a reason for this. What makes them so much harder to reprogram. I amm starting to consider changing it back to stock or getting a new ecu such as PFC. mad082
i have a remapped ecu in my 33 and a non remapped ecu that was in the car when i got it. not many people remap the r33 ecu as it uses different chips to the r32. there are a few places doing it, but i'm not sure who. i think there is a place in brisbane who do it, as my mate apparently had his r33 ecu done down there. jrocket
Dam must be less common than i thought judging from the flow of reply's i am getting. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/148056-modified-ecu/#findComment-2765060 Share on other sites
R31Nismoid
Depends what chip is in it, i had a chipped ECU/daughterboard which made it the same as an R32 ECU/chip setup Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/148056-modified-ecu/#findComment-2765154 Share on other sites
jrocket
Na it hasn't got a daughter board in it. I opened it up and the square computer chip on the board has been replaced for this "central 20" ecu chip. The chip is in a holder and is removable. I hope to connect up my comp to the ecu and try out a few programs to see what i can get out of it. I will take a picture of the ecu tomorrow if i get time. R31Nismoid
The problem is burning anotehr chip, its too costly Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/148056-modified-ecu/#findComment-2765439 Share on other sites
WogsRus
I have an Central 20 ECU on mine, well about to, i have tested it, made hudge differance ofer stock, plus 14psi was no problem. My mate had it on his RB25DET powered VL and it made 230rwKws with same mods as mine with sheets to prove it. CEF11E
I have a few central 20 .roms Mainly for RB20det. YOu will be running richer past 4000rpm and TP limit is changed to 255 thus getting rid of what people call boost cut. Also quite often timing is also around 18 deg in most of the high load parts of the map. Get it checked on a dyno Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/148056-modified-ecu/#findComment-2765476 Share on other sites
jrocket
Yeah i ran the car on the dyno and only managed to get 157rwkw and it showed that it runs very rich the second it revs up. The chip inside it looks to not be one of those eproms that you wipe clean with a UV light and re-burn. Any one have any places i can call about getting something done with it. i will post up some pics of the dyno run and the ecu itself. WogsRus
i am mearly ready off the chart that was provided by the tuner form the car, i know the tuner, and the car had an r34 turbo on an 94 series r33 det motor. The motor was stock, FMIC etc etc, but that's what happended, I am yet to test it on my car, but i will let you know. Just what i know, i know that seams high, but that is what it did. It certainly made a big differance in my car when i had it in there for a test. CEF11E
There is a guy on these forums named toshi. he remaps R33 ecu's. I am sure he can remap it for you. or even provide the stock map with no speed limit and no tp limit Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/148056-modified-ecu/#findComment-2766520 Share on other sites
mad082
after i had my remapped ecu on i borrowed a mates wideband o2 sensor and tested out my afr's. at around 3000rpm it goes up to 12.5 for about 500rpm then drops to 12 till about 5000rpm where it slowly drops down to 11.4 at redline. that was at 11psi as the boost controller was playing up and wouldn't let me go higher. cruise is about 14.5-14.7 when i get a chance i am going to test it at 14psi and see what the afrs are like. Yeah I think something could be wrong with my oxy sensor. Here is my run on the dyno and as you can see the air fuel ratio jumps straight to 10. I am unsure if this is due to the ecu being modified or what. [/img] Any one have any ideas on my crappy dyno run.
