hi...

im in the middle of doing a r34 rb25det and come across bad news... i ran the motor up in the car for about twenty five minutes... after about 15 mins when it got nice and warm it started coughing out white smoke... i kept running the motor as i was told the turbo was "smokey" coz the car i got it out of had been rolled over...it kept up the coughing for another ten minutes then i turned it off... as soon as i turned it off i checked the motors vitals... the oil... no problem... but the water was oily, not emulsified but you could see little bubbles floating around and it felt oily between my fingers... anyone has this before... ive been told that they are known to crack blocks so thats my main concern... ive taken the oil cooler off and will send it away to get pressure tested in the new year... i will also run it with fresh water and the oil cooler bypassed... if not its off with the head after a pressure test... should the block be cracked in goes a rb30det neo... that sorta rolls off the tongue doesnt it :)

just wondering if anyone knew any other small things to check before i commit to pulling off the head

thanks in advance and ave a gud x mas :):O

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
