hey guys..

looks like ive found a buyer for my car and just wondering what sort of things are picked on for an rwc?

my car isnt big on the mods so all that stuff 'should' be ok..

pod filter, exhaust (that isnt too loud at all), not low etc

will they pick on things like the SAFC, turbo timer, boost bleed valve etc

my car isnt bodgy and im not looking for some backyard operation, but does anyone recommend any places in the box hill/doncaster area to get it done?

cheers in advance

james

most places wont pick up on boost controller, safc. Turbo timer is legal, it's not being in your car while it is running that is illegal.

They will omly pick you on exhaust if it is really loud, they wont measure the db or anything. Most places will get you for oiled pod or pod not secure, but only some will get you for having pod + cooler.

They will all usually measure height.

Then you have the other normal things, all lights in operation, safety devices like seatbelts etc, tyre tread, window screen cracks, brake pads etc

A turbo timer is not an approved modification.

It is illegal, whether you sit in the car or not.

Agreed.

Well if you are sitting in your car, then they can't tell the differance between the tt being on or your keys in the ignition :glare:.

It's never been legal; but i have never been pulled up on it, nor have i heard of anyone ever being pulled up on it.

my tt isnt actually functional atm anyway, its not wired up into the new alarm so that shouldnt be a problem

il give the guys at racing project a bell tomoro

any others?

If it is not wired up/working just unplug it and remove the unit for the rwc.

    • Despite the level up question, actually I do know what that is....it is a pressure sender wire.  So check out around the oil filter for an oil pressure sender, or maybe fuel pressure near the filter or on the engine. Possibly but less likely coolant pressure sensor because they tend to be combined temp/pressure senders if you have one. Could also be brake pressure (in a brake line somewhere pre ABS) but maybe I'm the only one that has that on a skyline.
    • Pull codes via the self-diagnosis procedure. As far as I can tell this is just a sign of transmission issues but not a code unto itself.
    • Hi All, putting the engine back together and everything is perfect except have this plug left over.. any ideas what it is for and where it goes? Is on cold side under the intake plenum *note not a stock plug, as everything has been modified Cheers
    • Sounds like a misfire. Check fuel pressure and don't even think about going into boost while it's like this unless you enjoy engine rebuilds.
