hmm, i have one but its more than 13k.. actually i just fully serviced it  . i will make a suggestion though, if your looking for one for 13k in tassie you will be looking for one for 10k in melb as it will cost you 3k+(the plus is because if its 10k it will most likely need some work) to get it over here and rego'd ... just a thought :woot: wheras if you look around the 15-17k mark you find good ones already here registered and dont need money spending on them (for repairs) .

Holy Shit! $3k to get it over and registered, it would be cheaper to bring it back on the Spirit surely, and Registration would only be around the $600 mark wouldnt it??

I noticed a Grey R33 @ JDS Auto Imports for $13,500, has anyone dealt with these guys before?

Cheers!

Well what Toff means if you buy a car from Melbourne/Sydney/Brissy then you would be looking at:

purchase price: $10k

Flight over: $100-300

Boat: $150-500 (depends on season and availablity)

Fuel: $100

Rego/change over: $1000+

Service/parts: $200-1000+

and i can think of a few more things as well so your 13k budget would be swallowed up pretty quick and you haven't even looked at insurance, an alarm/immobiliser or money in the kitty incase of an emergency/break down.

Is there any reason why you have to have a car in the next fortnight or can you hold off for a little while so you can look at the market with 15-18k.

NO COMMENT on JDS all i will say is if you do go through an importer/broker than make sure you do a little research first

Well from experiance now, the JDS crew is all new, new manager, new service team, all sema preatty good, i have had my car in to get some checks and stuff and din't charg me a thing, VERY helpfull. The new service team is tops, have all the nissan datascan software and so forth.

I got my car through Aussie Car Campliance, with Joel. Check them out, excelent service, and the car is great.

My car cost me $14500, then another $400 to ship form sydney to tasmania. I din't fly over, just freight.

Once in tassie, transfer, regio and insurance, $1500.

So that is $16400 befor i started anything. The car had a full service before i picked it up and with low kilometers i don't have to warry about timmyng belt as yet. The car came with all log books, manuals ect, and i knew exactly what condition the car was in.

Now the car was not perfect, it really need all the side skirts and bumpers resprayed, but that is also cos i am way to anal. I spent propably 6 months looking for the car i liked, and trust me there is a lot of shit out there and for 13K you will be lucky to find a good car, not impossible, but certainly hard.

So far with wheels the car owes me close to 20K, so money gets swallowed up fast. With an import i would recomend getting aftermarket warranty. I didn't, had teh option too, but decided against it. The main reson to have it, is that imports being pedantic cars, tend to break all the little nigly things, O2 sensors, coils, etc etc, these are easy to replace, but all cost money, so warranty helps.

Anyway do some searching and always test drive.

her is what 14.5K got me.

so far close to 200rwKw, and i do all the work myself.

Cheers for comments guys!

I need to get a car within the next fortnight becuause I sold mine about a month ago, and have been driving the missus' car around...needless to say I'm pushing the friendship

I see what Toffy meant, maybe the cost is a little out of my reach at this point in time (saving for a trip to Europe). Initially, I only wanted to spend around $10k, but found my options were very limited. I've checked out a couple of 300ZX's, and was going to look at a 180SX, both around the $13k mark and in fairly shithouse condition, but I always keep coming back to the idea of a Skyline (more practical). I'll just have keep my options open then...maybe an R32.

    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
    • There's not a great deal to report here .... except ...... FOR .... LSD!!!  I bought a Quaife LSD from the UK and shipped it here .... Wish I'd just bought locally cause the shipping and duty was $700! But there were so many diffs used in the E90s I just wanted to be absolutely certain I was getting the right one so I spoke with a supplier in the UK who builds race cars and they have heaps of experience with the E90s.  I pulled the diff out which was seriously awesome - I've never done anything like that before, I must have watched 1000 videos on YT about it as well as consulting the Bentley manual. It was super easy in the end. The diff was delivered to the awesome folks at Hornsby Diffs and will be back in a few weeks. I also replaced the diff bushings with some Nolathane ones.  Really looking forward to getting it back and getting back to the track or even the skidpan.
    • yeah... the 13kg/mm springs weren't always in there, I had 10kg/mm but doing a few SMSP commanded heavier front springs. It's so good now going into T1 and T2, just need more seat time and real tyres.
    • Yes, well. Mine are less than half that. ARBs are not set to "dumb" either.
    • I would hope. But, we all know even the best companies have an issue sporadically.
