should have kicked him in the face... :)

seriously though, at least your ok, and now you've experianced it, you know what to do next time. i recomend club locks, they're not a 'weapon' if u cave some-one with em  provding your in/near your car of course

thats so wierd

i was down near the vermont south area about 4 months ago drivin up burwood highway towards chapel street and got stoped at the lights by a red light....a guy scared the shit outta me by jumping in front of my car as i was talking to my mate who was in the passenger seat....he then approached my window and asked for a lift to pahran (up in the direction of burwood highway towards where i was going) he was way to sus and real junkie looking so there was no way i was letting him in my car, he also asked for change....i quickly replied with a response that i was turning down the next intersection and not going that way....he looked at me in anger but then looked at my mate in the pasenger seat so obviously thought about it for a sec....then the light went green so i booted away from him....luckily my mate was in the car cause i probably would have done the same as u and let him in my car...lucky i didnt, however i wonder if it was the same guy :S

scary

whoa, tats pretty bad.. glad you are ok.

err on the side of caution next time wont you? panel work/car can be fixed/replaced only 1 of you tho.

oh, and even if its a drunk mate or associate dont forget to tell them to 'close' the door and not 'slam it the fkk shut' like most nongs do.

damn that shits me when people do that, people get dirty with me but I always remind them to just close it gently

/end rant

WOW - I cant believe you guys.

You are scared of a stranger outside of your car, so why the hell would you let him/her in!!! If someone outside looks dodgy or suss, the last thing you should do it is let them in.

As said above - IF they happen to kick the car, big deal - if you let them in and they have a weapon of some sort, then you could be in all kinds of trouble.

Best place for strangers = NOT in your car (especially at night or when you are alone).

My tip if approcahed again - lock your doors and drive away.

Yea sometimes its hard to say no to someone because you feel bad or you think whats the worst that can happen... but sh!t after hearing of this my doors are staying locked! And at least you can say he didn't take more than your wallet/phone cos it couldhave been alot more worse!

If your from melb you might be familiar with Rosamond Rd near Highpoint shopping centre, just a little warning for everyone that might drive past there cos usually at night theres this big fat bloke that stands on the corner of rosamond rd and ballarat rd asking for money, the excuse is that he needs it for his car thats broken down to get some money for juice (but really he's lost it at the f*kn pokies!), everyone he goes upto obviously says no and i've spoken to alot of people who has been approached by him.

But one day this bloke looks like he's gona snap and kick the shit outa someone! So watch out at those lights at the corner of rosamond rd and ballarat rd going towards buckly st in footscray, right next to the palms pokies place.

Thaught i'd warn ya's, dun needa see another topic like this!

My trick is to look more scruffy than the junkie bums trying to jack you - get them thinking you'll bury their dismembered and slightly devoured corpse in a number of shallow graves in Thomastown if they get in the car. Not shaving and driving a Lada is a good start.

But yeah - lock the doors. Easier.

Unfortunatly I didn't even know about the imei thing.

I think I was in shock or something on the night, because I was annoyed more than angry, yet I was still in a good mood.

At night from now on I will most definantly have my doors locked, If he dents my car as a drive off, I'll dent his legs with rear bar as I reverse.

Just saw a news report 3 sex offenders have just been recaptured in the CBD area after escaping from a mental "facility". Lucky is wasn't one of them.......or was it? Thats why i dont let strangers into my car.

How do you know about our shallow graves? Who ahve you been talking to? Was it Tony?

I don't let people in my car unless I know em... I also don't let excessively drunk people in my car, even if I know em, unless they're really in a pickle.

A mate an I offered a lift to these two girls years ago, and after being held up with a blood loaded needle, that was the last time anyone we didn't know got in our cars. Mate's car was hijacked and crashed a lil later... dunno if I'd have picked em up if I was in my car, but the experience is definitely enough to change your outlook on helping people. I tend to only help the really old people these days... they're the only ones you can sorta trust.

its just not worth it these days, i am glad you were ok though that is the main thing. (and to the other people who got away)

this country is turning or might i say has allready turned into a place like most of the world where u cant trust ppl especially strangers. ... stranger danger

besides if people need help that badly they can either

a: call the police

b: rac

c: family/friends

and if there is no one else that can help them, well thats just tough shit, go with option A for everything if u dont know what to do

let them sort it out. its what they get paid for

like someone else said, lucky ur ok!! he could have done a lot worse to you.

moral of story... lock ur doors.. and dont keep ur windows fully open....

yeah u were trying to help someone out, but like how can u trust anyone nowadays??

dude that sucks,

I know exactly how ya feel to be stabbed in the back,

Don't worry, karma always has a funny way of getting people back >_<, you just might not be there to enjoy it :)

its sad but you know what they say, just turn the other cheek

    • To plug the hole. The engine plant may not have known whether the car it was going into had a gauge or not. It was a long time ago and the integrations might not have been fully modern. Or they might not have cared because the extra inventory and processes to save a few cents on the sender might have cost more anyway. But please tell me you are not still confusing the idea of a pressure gauge sender, and an oil pressure light switch. The switch will be out there. In a separate hole. Probably with only one wire running to it. Running the light.
    • Blower needs to go low on the exhaust side, displacing the AC and PS, which you have to decide whether you want to keep and how and where to relocate if you do. Electric option for PS is, at least, helpful. Sadly, there is no workable 12V electric AC of any value. Whilst the blower is the last compression step before the throttle, and so it might seem a good idea to have it near the inlet manifold (as mentioned above), you probably want it to go through an intercooler first, so, having it on the opposite side of the car facilitates that air flow path. The turbo discharges into the blower, so proximity of the turbo's compressor outlet to the blower's inlet is nice. But then you might want to intercool that too, before boosting it again....which would probably be a ball ache. Routing pipes out to the front and back could be a bit shit. If there was room for (at least) a small (but preferably larger) water to air core on that side, then that would probably be the best approach. I guess a reasonable alternative would be to locate the blower where the alternator is (more or less, associated with the inlet manifold, per Matt's thought), and somehow incorporate a water to air core into the manifold, sort of like they do for modern blown V8s. The big difference here though is that those V8s have only the one throttle (upstream the blower) and only the one compression step (the blower) and no need for too much in the way of bypass/blowoff valves. Whereas in a twin charged 6, you do need to think about one or two bypass valves associated with the 2 compressors and you would prefer to have the intercooling done before the air has to pass through the throttle. You'd like the throttle to work approx the same no matter what the compression is doing. But if it is located in hot air stream before a cooler, then sometimes the air will be real hot, sometimes it will be quite cool, and the throttle mapping/response will be quite different between those two cases. The throttle, if sized for hot air, would be too large for cold conditions. It's all a ball ache.
    • Package SC on exhaust side. Remote mount turbo. Still a fair bit of room when you get creative on the inlet side of the motor too. Especially if you can get really creative with the welding, and effectively build it into the bottom of the inlet manifold. Would definitely take some design work, and some trial and error, to make sure flow works well still! Might be easier to just start with the Nissan March though... All the work is already done for you...

    • The factory oil pressure sender is no longer in the car that's what is confusing me. In the Taarks adapter I have an aftermarket Bosch style pressure/temp sender and the factory temp sender only. Oil pressure is perfect. Where does the factory oil temp sender go to if there were never any gauges? Why was it there from the factory?
