Hi ppls,

I've recently bought a GTR diff and axles to shoe horn in to my GTST rwd cradle.

It has what looks like the GTR 6 bolt (1 x 6) axles/half shafts but upon opening the diff up its a viscous unit, so obviously not a GTR diff, but rather something else.

The axles are 31spline.

Does any one have any measurements on the axle/spline that slides in to the hub?

Definitely strange as its not possible to use the GTR outputs with a VLSD as the GTR outputs are to suit a mech diff.

I have seen a 1x6 R230 diff in a picture so possibly the vlsd (n/a) r230 outputs suit the r200 vlsd diff?

I'm about to take a heap of pics. I'll throw them up.

i just had a look on hybridz coz they do heaps of this sort of stuff and the the r200 vlsd out of the q45 infinity has a 6-1 pattern same as gtr..so my money would be on that...r230 is a heaps bigger diff and would prolly have bigger splines in the outputs.not sure tho

On another web site I saw pics of underneath the boots. The GTR axles have more little lug/bearing bits so you can't simply bolt a set of gtst 27spline axles on to the end of the 6 bolt uni.

If it were that easy I think JMS would have gone that route to have the better axles in the gtst as it would have been a simple hub and axle end swap rather than whole subframe, q45 diff center, swap diff ratio's etc.

But really I don't know for sure until I pull the boot off and have a look.

Either way I think I'll just flog it off.

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
