Help with vibration problem

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I have done a search on this problem i have on the forums and have got a bit of information, some of which seems to contradict the other. So just wondering if anyone has experienced this/knows a fix for it. Here goes:

I took the car for a wheel alignment and balance cause i had bad vibration over 120km/hr. Guess what? It's still there. It's violent between 120-130km/h. I've noticed that at 120km/h it vibrates through the steering wheel. 130km/h, the vibration in the steering wheel is less, but the console (where the radio a/c is) shakes like hell. At 140km/h, the vibration moves to the drive shaft/rear i think. Any ideas on what this could be or how i could fix it?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,

Eek

sounds like ur wheels aren't balanced, try someone else to balance it... also test the pressure of the tyres, try not to use the ones u find at the petrol stations cause they aren't very good, i find that my tyres don't seem to hold pressure very well so i have to keep pumping air in every now and them ... but yeah ... most of threads like this i've seen were fixed with proper balancing... are the tyres new??

tyres might have seperated. ive had this problem before with cheap shit tyres. check the tread for any un even wear. if this is the case then get new tyres.

my car was scarey at 150 with one tyre seperating. its perfect upto 250 with the new ones.

i think its an unbalanced tail shaft, on my vl (yeah its not a skyline) i had a 2 peice tailshaft, wheels were ballanced and alligned propley, coudlnt work it out, but it would be find till i did 160 and it would vibrate like hell. i replaced the center berring thinking that was ruined, didnt do anything.

my car was so bad once backing off at 240, u would think it was going to drop the box and send the engine outa its mounts.

i then got the tailshaft ballanced and everything was fine.

have you hit anything under the car? the slightest knock on a tailshaft can put it outa ballance.

    • I'll bite. I no longer own any euro's, but I thought I'd share two of my favorites I owned. My 500hp B5 S4 and my 800HP E55 AMG. Yes I did attempt to drive the E55 in Canadian winters, that lasted all of a month as it was a death trap.
    • To be fair this is the wife’s car. However, I have been accused of owning more cars than I have pairs of undies. Luckily I change my undies more frequently than the cars.
    • Cheers Lads Looking at changing up a few things maybe go 2.8lt, bigger injectors with more a modern Turbo. Possibly transbrake and convert to E85 with Haltech ECU. Any thoughts on those Mods changes or better ideas? Want to try keep the car Street/Strip While also being weekend drivable still.
