I gots an 93 32 gtst still pretty stock, just a pod filter and bleed valve

its done 135kw with 12psi on croydons dyno this week a new Cooler and turbo back exhaust is coming what kinda gains can i expect in regards to power output and 1/4 mile times ive been told 180kw is possible. can anyone shed some light on this..

cheers...

115rwkw on a DD Dyno I made stock. Timing fiddle etc I made around 125rwkw. on stock boost.

Then exhaust and 12psi boost I made 152rwkw.

Then the turbo starts to hit a wall of efficiency so to speak and 15psi only picked up power to 164rwkw.

Also If you get the ecu tuned etc and run a bleed valve that will drop boost to around 12psi you will make 160rwkw. So .. with an ebc and tuned ecu with 15psi and You may make around 170rwkw.

This is on a DD Dyno I'm not sure about Croydens.. Every dyno reads different :)

joel when you say tuned ecu do you mean to upgrade the stock item or replace it all together. Also with all the rain last night i got a little (lot) drift happy, reckons i thrashed it a bit too much, mainly in second gear now it bounces on idle down as low as 400rpm but then it sits right after bout 12 to 15 seconds any ideas ???

im gettin worried i broke something.

With the R32's you can re-program the standard ECU.

I'm not sure if any one can do it in your area however.

It bounces on idle down low... mine bounces in first and second when putting around a car park when labouring the motor at 400rpm is that what you mean???

When I finished up work to go to uni I sat on the rev limiter in first clicked second second creeping up the road on the rev limiter and broke nothing. Can't imagine thrashing a car more than that. :)

it bounces with the clutch in i was hoping after its little rest last night it would have come to its senses and started behaving again but it still doing it i havent really noticed any power loss

The reason im worried about it is cause i've been pretty ham fisted with it lately guess i'll have to get the mech to look at it

.

BTW did you have to make any ecu changes once u put your bosh fuel pump in & did ya notice any change???

cheers

If i give the car a hard time the clutch seems to shudder a little just as I start to let it out. That is normal Just glazing of the flywheel I guess. Not really sure but it returns back to normal if you give it a rest :P Nothing to worry about my old mans 5yr old Landcruiser does the same thing with a 3month old clutch in it.

With regards to the fuel pump...

With the stock fuel pump at 12psi I wasn't leaning out it was still running slightly rich.

I slapped it on the dyno to boost it up to 1 bar and also fitted the bosh fuel pump. OMG did it run rich! Way to rich. Went down on power big time.

It lost mid range power and running 1 bar was around the same as running 11-12psi with the stock fuel pump. However I ran a fuel pressure bleed kit from RPM which helped lean it out a little but still not enough up top.

If i have the AF's perfect up top the mid range leans out up to 5500rpm and pings.. which is not good.

It also felt like it lost a bit of power when first coming on to boost but oh well Until a slightly bigger turbo goes On i'm not going to be doing the ECU so it can wait.

Still quicker than those 255LS1 Maloo Manual Utes so I'm happy with it at the moment as not much apart from other boosted skylines and the od' boosted suby (which there isn't many around) beats it.

If you are making around 160-170rwkw and have extremly grippy tyres there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to run a mid to high 13 to a low 14.

Realistically a Flat 14 is probably more the go. You will know what I mean about wheel spin as soon as you start running 1 bar of boost.

180rwkw will only be possible with a R33 RB25DET Turbo and a tuned ECU, bigger fuel pump etc.. Push it to 17psi and you may even get a little more but on 17psi I would make sure it isn't pinging and you don't hammer it to hard like track work etc otherwise the heat will get in to the turbo and the exhaust wheel will seperate from its shaft.

I've been running 16psi on the standard R32 turbo for quite some time now however the car is only used for 0-100 runs maybe a bit of third but hardly ever.

On hot days 35+ degree's I drop boost down to around 13psi just to be safe.

I've had it running like this for around 60,000km's and it is only now starting to puff a bit of smoke when the turbo is cold as the seals are getting nacked.

Make sure u do it on a dyno however and make sure its not leaning out. You fuel pump may not be as good as mine was.

At 12psi I was making 152rwkw and that was with it using a fuel pressure reg bleed kit to lean it out. I've noticed that yours is making around that at 12psi so it is possible that your fuel pump won't handle the extra fuel required for 1 bar of boost.

I don't think that is the latest Zoom..

They used a GT 2530 Turbo and it was Tilbrooks nephew in a White R31 Wagon.

Same RB20DET????

I'm leaning towards the R33 Turbo as after having a VG30BB turbo on my car for a few days I didn't like how it made full boost at around 4000rpm+. Boost developed very slowly.

I think it comes down to if you use old tech turbo's this is to be expected as they arn't as efficient as the new turbo's.

But 180-190rwkw in a R32 is like having 200-210rwkw in a R33 it will be plenty quick for the street. :D

I made 125rwkw with the following mods: 10psi boost, 3 dump pipe from the turbo and a 3 inch highflow cat, 3.5 inch cat back zorst, pod filter and the timing advanced to 20deg. How are you guys pulling 150rwrk and what not, just curios. There must something wrong aye?

Plus i also ran a 14.6 with 225 kuhmo's.

DLuded.. That exactly the same mag I've got that I had last year.

They also had another mag prior to that one stating how they used to Piazo cores welded them together etc...

Then they released mag 52 that made 220rwkw with less boost 17psi I think and the GTR core.

What is the mag number blind_elk?

Maybe they are re-using story's :O

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
