So i got a Central20 ECU, and it rocks, now that i fixed the timing. However, when i first put it in the base timing was 10 deg, not 15 as per teh old one i just took out, i had to move the CAS about 3 mm to get it back to 15 deg, and DAM what a differance, is this normal. The car is bonckers. I LOVE IT.

ALSO, The car takes longer to warm up, so i presume it's running a bit ritch. The knock is as per old standard ecu so all good there, i don't think it's pinging, so far so good.

IF the ecu was causeing some engine issues, how long before i can tell that it's wrong?

Hi

Sorry I don't know if i can help you but you might be able to help me. I have also got this Central 20 Ecu in my R33gtst and i am having probs with it. I think it needs to be remapped or something. when i put the car on the rollers it says that the A/f jumps straight to 10 or lower. I think this is meant to be round 12 - 14 or something. I have been told that there is no one in aust that programs these ecu's. Where did you get yours from and where did ya get it mapped. Any info would be great.

i got mine given to me, and i have not had mine on the rolles as yet.

they are all different, form what i know, but they can be remaped and DR drift has done one or two, some come coded so you can't other you can.

I have an SAFC II so if i need to do anythign with the fuel maps i will.

I also have a fuel pressure reg and i bumped the fuel pressure up a bit just to be sure.

the AFRs you have are LOW wich is bad, so you might need to do something or your damage the car. Mine feels ok so far, but i will check it out soon i hope, all i know is it rocks, i mean the car is soo daaammm fast now.

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
