Turbo is dead, completely seized. Will have to talk to Bill at ATS tomorrow as he had it apart 10 days ago. Only lasted 4 laps :)

Motor is on its way out too, blowing a bit of smoke and what not. The one thing that I expected to go didn't seem to have any issues (clutch), but then again, I only got a couple of laps, and my rear tyres had no grip, so not heaps of stress on the clutch.

F*ck cars! :(:P

time to come over to the dark side RB25powa

oh thats bad luck dude. hope it all works out

 I would love to, but really cant afford around $4000 to do the whole conversion :P

Just gonna freshen up the 20 a little bit later down the track.

Got onto Bill about the turbo, going to go see him next week (too busy with uni exams this week) and he'll sort it out for me :) He said it seemed very strange to him and didn't sound like an oil starvation problem. Now a whole week withouth my car! It's times like these I wish it was a track car and not a daily :(

I'd love to do that so much, but the R32 RB25DEs aren't too common, but am keeping an eye out. If I had an RB25DE head though, I'd be VERY tempted to just grab a stock RB30E bottom end and slap it together. There's a few people on here getting big power out of stock bottom ends so would be alright if one popped up :)

I think I would miss revving past 7000rpm though...

yea it would probably cost you a bit more too. mine sertanly is but im going to add a few bits to make sure it lasts.

Yeah, I think for that money I'd rather spend it all on a well put together kit, Roy has freakin awesome results with his TD06-20G kit, would sure crap all over a stock RB25 :D

That said, I'd still love an RB25...

Well nothing is happening with the turbo and I'm out $800 because of it. Borrowing a mate's RB25 turbo now so it's back to its old self

Took it out to Mallala for some circuit on Saturday and took 1.6s out of my last lap time. Got a 1:24.1, oh so close to my goal of getting into the 1:23s. I probably could've done it on the day with a bit more driving as there was still half the day to go, but I was almost out of brakes and fuel, so called it a day. Couple more issues I have to address with the setup too, bit more rear camber and probably a bit less front camber with these tyres (old hard semis that dont grip too much anymore). And it's very nervous at high speed (~180km/hr) so I've picked up a GTR wing and it's on there now. I'll head back out to a grip day soon and see how it goes. Hopefully this settles it a bit at high speed. Actually, I'll probably just give it a go at G1, the semis dont grip much more than street tyres, they just dont go greasy :D

Gotta address brakes before I get back out there again though, keep killing em... :)

Spose now with a wing, I should also enter Autosalon

^^^ i like that now i need a wing. im not sure how you will go getting the wing to fir quite right as the sedan boot is a bit narrower. i put a type m spoiler on mine and it kinda hung out over the sides.

thats pretty shit news about the turbo. so no one wants to take the blame?

what camber settings are you running now?

you will be able to enter autosalon as a one off 4 door GTR.

Flyn have these for a 130 bucks...thought you might be interested :domokun::domokun:

:) Probably be as useful as me just propping the boot lid up :)

My GTR wing fits on the car perfectly? Couple of the holes even lined up properly, but the other 2 were slightly off... Doesn't hang over the edges anyway

No one's taking the blame about turbo, so yeah, bugger all I can do :(

Right now I'm running 3deg front and 1deg rear. I was running 1.5deg rear and found this wasn't enough either, so I adjusted my bushes to make the arm shorter (more camber), but somehow, it went the other way!? :)

I'm sick of adjusting the bushes anyway, so I'm just going to get adjustable upper arms :)

hahahaha yeah go on showza... enter autosalon :)

Me and Hayden could be side by side :P Spose I could throw on the Celsior rims, take out the springs and just have it sitting on the bumpstops... ;)

OK, so at the last round of G1, I blew the engine after 3 laps, so see ya later RB20, picked up the new engine tonight. RB30DET :nyaanyaa:;)

Just a few things to do, then it's goin in the 32 and then it's a search for a gearbox and suitable turbo... Thinking GT3076R or maybe even GT3582R, but going higher than 300rwkw might make circuit a bit interesting to get the power down, so I might just settle for the GT3076R and have awesome midrange :P

    • Fark what are the changes of that snapping like that, clean. Nek minnit, custom radiator goes in, with built in oil cooler like those discontinued PWR ones from yesterdeacades ago
    • I thought I'd do a write up on an auto transmission fluid change for a the nissan 7 speed Automatic. At some stage the genius engineers decided that the fluid in the trans was "for the life of the transmission", (which seems kind of self supporting to me) and removed the dip stick and fill tube (funnily enough there is still a casting for it). Anyway, for this job you do need 2 specialist tools in addition to regular hand tools, jack and good chassis stands. You need a way to pump fluid up to the transmission; I got one of these but there are plenty of other options: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364584087070 Don't trust the generic listing though, it does not come with the required adapter for the Nissan 7 Speed. You need one of these, can't do the job without it: https://navarapart.com.au/product/genuine-nissan-patrol-y62-d23-np300-navara-re7-dipstick-fill-connector1 You need a heap of compatible transmission oil. Could be Nissan, could be anything else rated for Nissan Matic S. You need at least 10 litres, I had 15 to give it a better flush... Also, you need some biiig oil catch trays, at least one of these, or bigger if possible (volume was fine, size was very marginal): https://autobarn.com.au/ab/Autobarn-Category/Tools-%26-Garage/Specialty-Tools/Oil-Service/Garage-Tough-Oil-Drain-Pan-Black-16L---GT1068/p/TO03191 Finally, a measuring jug is very useful if your pump does not have volumes marked on it, I got a 6l one: https://www.repco.com.au/oils-fluids/fluid-accessories/measuring-jugs/penrite-measuring-jug-6l-pmj006/p/A5322648 Oh, and gloves.....this stuff is horrible (not as bad as diff oil, but getting there) ....First, jack up your car.....
    • So I mentioned the apprentice, @LachyK helped take the bonnet off. We just undid the nuts on the hinges and unclipped the gas struts, then pulled the bonnet back a little as the front was catching on the front bar.  I had a good look at everything today and have removed the rams, repaired/reset the hinges and bolted it back together like it never happened. I'll do a separate write up on the repair, and I also removed the poppers from the Fuga today too to save grief down the road.....as said above it is at least $5k to repair retail. I'm also happier about my ability to prepare a race car, and less happy about Nis-nault's engineering (I can hear @GTSBoy sAfrican Americaning) because the top hose of the radiator didn't slip off.......it snapped clean off. By practice I put the hose clamp hard up against the flare on a neck to make it least likely to ever move (thanks @Neil!). I guess that puts a little more pressure on the end of the pipe as it is further away from the rad, but still, that is pretty shit. I've put it back on for now as there was a fair bit of neck still there, but obviously there is no lip on the neck any more so I don't think I'll track it again until I have a new rad. Speaking of which....more research required. It looks like Koyo makes a standard size radiator in ally which I'll grab in the meantime, but I really want something thicker so might have to go custom in the medium term (ouch) Coolant still needs a refill and I have the pressure tester on it over night, but other than a wash down of the engine bay it seems alright. And @MBS206 noted something noisy on the front of the engine and I think I agree....time for a new accessory belt and tensioners I think.
    • our good friends at nismo make a diff for it, I have one (and a spare housing to put the centre in) on the way. https://www.nismo.co.jp/products/web_catalogue/lsd/mechanical_lsd_v37.html AMS also make a helical one, but I prefer mechanical for track use in 2wd (I do run a quaife in the front, but not rear of the R32)
