Not sure what others would charge but its not rocket science.

Requires access to a datalogit and a little loom fiddling which is bugger all. I'd say in all, 30mins to 1hr max in labour providing the bloke doing the work has half a brain. :)

but Dan tells me that they can all be stuffed in behind the original ECU

I havent done this yet because im waiting to get it tuned then ill install it properly

:) you make me sound brutal, seriously though my Field harness was literally folded in half with the excess wires sliding into the cavity behind the ECU.

so how much beer would it cost me to get the 26 pfc installed in my stoopid 25t then ?>

cuase otherwise im going to save up an get me a emanage ultimate...laaawt of saving though

a faq for the emanage would be very useful

its not a matter of beer

but a matter of changes, adaptions and known "gotchas" when using the rb26 PFC on rb26

the biggest known gotcha is no VCT support at all

if you have aftermarket exhaust cam gears then this point is void.

in summary;

you need to copy the stock rb25 maps onto it (need datalogit)

need to parrell up the afm signal (single afm into twin afm ecu)

need to parrell up the 02 signal (single 02 into twin 02 ecu)

rescale injectors down to rb25 size (unless u have larger ones)

but there are plus sides;

djetro option

working air temp support

can use twin or single afms if u want (both work)

can use twin or single 02 sensor (both work)

and u can buy it new from most apexi distro's (nengun comes to mind) for $890 delivered

ive been thinking about buying a 26 pfc for a while now

and just trying it on my car as i have datalogit

but the main worry is the wiring loom changes

i guess i could open it up and make the changes

ap engineering style

how many would be interested in a custom "ap engineered" style PFC to suit their rb25

it would mean however no working VCT support. if you have aftermarket exhaust cam gear then this problem is void.

it would involve me buying a 26 PFC and then making some changes to suit your rb25

Might be worth checking out if jaycar has anything suitable to trigger the vct from an rpm signal.

I know I've said that before paul but surely some one on this site should be able to easily sort somethign?!? :S

:pirate:

So hows the vct work?

Just above idle it enables, then at the preset 4700rpm for example it disengages again.

This increases overlap during the mid range to aid turbo spool and mid range torque, over 4700rpm it turns off as to reduce overlap and prevent reversion etc due to backpressure which by doing so helps top end.

yep

i had mine turn off at like 1900 for a bit of fun

and the car was sluggish and drove like a bucket of poo

thats not to say it would do the same withit complelely off

I think you would need 2, one set at say 1,200 rpm to turn it on and one set at say 4,700 rpm to turn it off. You could install them at the ECU and use the same pins in the ECU plug as the standared VVT. Pretty simple actually.

:) cheers

Clint32 built up his 'hardcore' r32 gtst track car.

Was awesome to look at.

He purposely retained the vct and 9:1 comp ratio and still made the power he wanted. GT3040 on the engine dyno it pulled 580hp at 26psi.

    • After @Kinkstaah debacle, I'd never want to try and get it right 😛
    • The hood lines up with the fenders. The front bar doesn't perfectly line up with the fenders where the wheel arch is. You have to 'squeeze' the front bar 'in' as it wants to naturally flare out and be longer on the sides. There's a few threads where people notice this when they only swap a GTR style bumper and front bar. Unless you have genuine OEM items - you may be better served getting conversion kits. There are GTT bumpers to fit GTR hoods. There are GTR hoods (non genuine) to fit the GTT bracketry. MAY
    • The real question is, on some of those wild roads they call highways, how many times did a farmer in an old ute from the early 2000s blaze past you over double lines?   Tassie is a wild and really cool place, and after doing a work related road trip there January of 24, I understand why Targa Tasmania is ran there, and is so tough to do well at! We had a brand new Camry Hybrid that handled quite nicely, and thankfully weren't in an old car, because cresting some of those hills in a 100kmh zone for it to suddenly be like "surprise f**kers, this is a recommended 30kmh hard right turn" wouldn't be pretty. We weren't racing the Camry around, but we weren't slouching in the bends either. But my lord those old farmers know their old clapped out utes, and those roads, as they were absolutely hammering it!   You're also super lucky to make it up to Mt Wellingtong this time of year. It's often road closed with snow/ice! Also, I hope you hit up Salamander Road in Hobart for some insanely good food (I highly recommend the dimly lit Irish pub for a Guiness Pie, or even the bangers and mash!!!)   How long did the Ferry take to get across? I want to do a road trip of Tas on my own time, but I get horrifically sea sick, and I don't want me on the Ferry, just the car 😛
    • So far so good, about 30km on it so far and nothing out of sorts yet thankfully
    • Look at @Kinkstaah's thread on the issue.
