Really depends what you are after.

I'm going to push upwards of 300rwkw maybe slightly over so I didn't want to hit 280rwkw and realise I should have done those forged pistons. :/

--

The head has been rebuilt, ported polished, the required angled valve jobs to suit the exhaust and inlet, cc'd & inlet valves deshrouded.

*make sure you get the seat pressure checked as some RB25 heads tend to lack seat pressure causing valve bounce at higher rpm and higher boosts, in other words don't buy it second hand and assume it will be fine*

The bottom end has had everything crack tested, blueprinted & balanced to 1g using a hienz balancer.

Forged pistons & 3 multilayer s/steel head gasket that has an O-ring setup in the 2nd layer.

Thats all off the top of my head. :)

Not really sure about drift, i'm not really in to that scene to be honest.

I prefer to try and be clean as possible around a track :D

Its good to watch for a laugh though.. When ppl loose it. ;)

The bottom end torque should be good for drift but I would tend to think a motor that is a little more snappy like the rb25 with a decent sized turbo would probably be a little better. Not sure.

I'm basing that on my rb20t compared to a r33 making similiar power (170rwkw). The R33 was difficult to get sideways out of corners as it was very linear. The RB20t was very snappy and the hard hitting torque transition would cause the tyres to break loose easier.

me got a poor ecuze for a gb :) r33 one....bearing grind :) go for tune up in 14 dayz :) full boozt run :(:D

well I am outta luck for a rb30 block. I have contacted people for one. But they never get back to me. Sydneykid even offered me a built one. But to be honest I can't afford that as of yet. I'll go ahead and take the used block untouched offer.

Anyone?

thanks

Gus

P.S. I have posted every where and still no bites. Anyone please?

Hi, I think the problem is you are underestimating how much of pain in the ass it is to send an engine half way around the world. Customs clearance, quarantine inspection, duty declaration, sea freight organisation, packaging and road transport to the wharf etc etc. It's not so bad when you are sending an engine with some value, but is it the same amount of work for a $400 engine as it is for a $6,000 engine. In fact it is even more work because a freshly built engine will pass inspection easily, a dirty, oily, old, used engine is not so easy.

Plus I guarantee you that you will not be able to rebuild an RB30 (to whatever spec) cheaper in the US than what we can downunder. It's false economy, but your choice nonetheless.

i hve heard a few diff things and wanna know i hve an rb20 with a stuffed bottom end if i got an rb30et bottom end could i swap everything over and is this a job for a professional
It depends how well you are with your hands and head.

I found the conversion to be a little bit of a pain in the arse (little things like trying to find a 14mm welsh plug & spending half trying to get the gearbox on the back of the motor. It takes sooo much time.. Especially doing it by your self with the odd hand.

Expect the car to be off the road for 1-1.5weeks. I've cleaned everything replaced gearbox, oil water fuel lines/seals. Thats what has taken the time.. Then only to find 'ahh damn i forgot this better order it in from nissan'

I've been taking photo's along the way so I can document exactly what has to be bought or modified to suit the rb30.

Yeah your right again. :chairshot ( you hitting me) lol.

Then is it too late to send moeny for a built block? I still have to sale some other stuff before I can cough up for the rb26 worked head. Please shot me an e-mail at [email protected]

We still have to talk about payment method etc.

thanks

No you need an RB25 or RB26 Head.

The RB20 has smaller bores..

You can use most of your parts, but you need to purchase an RB25DE/DET head.

Not a job you really want to do all on your own, especially the bottom end, new rings and bearings etc.

Please go back over the last 70 pages and have a read..

The beast is alive..

The car idles and rev's as smooth as the RB20DET on the stock RB20DET ECU.

I'm unsure why Darrens R32 had issues, maybe the PowerFC base map is some how very different to the stock ECU map.

I've got a vid & audio clip of the start with only the dump/front pipe on, its not as loud as I expected. Sounds awesome with slight rev's as you can hear the turbo spool. :)

I will post soon.

Awesome stuff!

I get my PowerFC tomorrow, so i'm not far away from starting mine. ;)

Just a few small things, and running cooler pipes etc. :flamed:

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
