It depends if it is a chipped r32 rb20 or 25 ecu, or a stock or chipped r33 ecu, i cant see it possibly being a stock r33 ecu. In my experience there is no such thing as a freak car, maybe 10 rwkw, but not 50, and ive done 100s of power runs in cars. If it makes that power, it does it for a reason. It appears to have the supporting hardware, now its just the injectors and management, you need to pull the cover off theecu and have a look.

yeah might pull the cover off this weekend and have a look to see if something funky has been done to it

ok thats prolly a fair statement, any tuners on here care to have a look at the dyno graph i posted up and back that statement up?? its just that throwing a random comment out there like that dont carry much merrit unless you can back it up... now you could be right and you prolly are, but i have had it on the dyno, done the mph to back it up so if someone can come up with any sort of explanation why it could be otherwise, id really like to know?

I'm a tuner, and a car running 10.7:1 afrs just bog down too much. It might be possible to make that sort of power with a heaps big turbo, but I hardly see it happening with a GT30 or something that size.

There so many factors involved.

I also agree with Adriano - There is no such thing as a freak car. There is a reason why the car behaves like that.

i see

11.7afr @ 3200rpm ~ 90kmh

richens up to 11.2 and then leans back out again

11.8afr @ 4100rpm ~ 115kmh

progressively richens up to 10.8 afr around 4800rpm ~ 135kmh

then leans back out to 11.8afr around 5700rpm ~ 160kmh

then it progressively leans out to 12.1 afr before redline

i suspect you would get a good chunk of midrange power if the afrs were around 12 all the way through instead of richen up to high 10s and the back ground mid 11s. providing the egt's are ok it should be fine on low 12s the whole way through, usually a bit richer during boost build say upto 3400rpm ish~

your boost seems to ramp finally at 3900 so maybe a tiny bit before that a bit richer could help, then just 12s the rest of the way, again check afrs and egts on a dyno

oh, and you simply can't make 270rwkw on 10.7:1 afrs...

you say your a tuner yet you cant read a dyno printout ??

the 10.7 AFR is his first run in green = 207 kws

next run in red with AFR up to 12.1 = 270kws

he obviuosly started at 207kws then cranked some more boost into her and then did the red run

gettin up 270 od kws.

I agree, it doesn’t add up.

1. The TS should be 125 mph or so for that sort of power and weight.

2. The AFM will be reaching 5 volts at a bit less than 4,500 rpm (~220 rwkw). That leaves 3,000 rpm of only mapping via RPM points

3. The standard ECU doesn’t like that sort of stuff at all

4. Someone put a SubZero plenum on and left the injectors standard, seems illogical to me

5. The standard injectors flow 370 cc’s at standard pressure (36-38 psi). That’s 370 bhp, or ~215 rwkw. So 278 rwkw out of standard injectors at standard pressure is impossible.

6. The A/F ratios being all over the place, particularly the richness ~4,200 rpm to 6,000 rpm, indicates larger than standard injectors are likely.

7. The reason why it is hard to drive down the ¼ is the non linear response from the engine due to the tune being all over the place

My guesses, Z32 AFM, chipped/bent ECU and 500 cc injectors.

Fix the tune and it will make a bit more max power (over 300 rwkw), a heap more average power (particularly in the all important 4 to 6,000rpm range) and it will be much faster and more consistent down the ¼.

the ecu has been remapped. the stock ecu has a speed cut at about 112mph (180kmh).

what does the car hit the rev limit at? if it is above 7000rpm then that is another sign the ecu has been remapped.

4. Someone put a SubZero plenum on and left the injectors standard, seems illogical to me i was offered the plenum for 200 bux and it retains the stock inlet runners and fuel rail thus the still standard injectors

5. The standard injectors flow 370 cc’s at standard pressure (36-38 psi). That’s 370 bhp, or ~215 rwkw. So 278 rwkw out of standard injectors at standard pressure is impossible. agreed

drag-on, you definately dont have a stock ECU.

I can assure you of that, and likely hi-flowed injectors or slightly bigger ones... so it all looks factory... but it isnt :D

yeh mine made 254 and went bang after 3 months but that was due to bad tuning aswell but....i know theres a dude here in sa making over 300 on the stock internals and has done for a while

Yes Freebaggins old 33 was making slightly over 300rwkw (313rwkw from memory) for years. :D

Tuning with regular checkups is critical.

    • Stock ECU (or more accurately stock tune) absolutely refuses to go over 10psi and behaves like you have seen. The Nistune is the same if it is the stock tune. If the Nistune chip has been tuned, the resulting tune could be literally anything for any combination of parts. The Nistune just makes the stock ECU Tunable.
    • So stock ECU does not like anything above 10 psi?  That Nistune one is just for "try" if it will be any different, I know it need to be tune for that. I know but YOU may know about these problem but i/we dont. They few little Skylines here let alone people who know anything about tham so that is why iam asking here  
    • So now we have a radiator with no attachments whatsoever. It lifts up with a particularly tight spot between the drivers side air box mount and the lower radiator outlet, but if you've got this far you will sort that too. This is the lower mounts with the rad out so you can see where the rubber bushes go, it is a straight shot upwards Done! Assembly is the reverse of disassembly, with blood less likely to be shed.
    • Right, onto the second last trick. The Air Con condenser is mounted to the front of the radiator and stays in the car when the radiator is removed. There are 2x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the condenser to the radiator, remove those The bottom of the condenser is attached to the radiator with clips. You need to lift the condenser out of those clips and clear (up, then forward). f**ked if  could work out how to do that last bit with the front bumper on. I hope you can, and you share the trick.  Bumper removal probably deserves its own thread one day once I've recovered the will to live, but basically you need to remove the wheels, front inner guard liners (clips and 10mm headed bolts), the self tapper between the guard and the bumper at the rearmost point of the bumper (same as an R32 that bit), any remaining clips at the top/front of the grill, an absolute bastard design with a plate that holds the top of the bumper above the headlight each side (only 1 bolt which is tricky to get to, but the plate catches 2 places on the bumper and must be removed....carefully!) and push clips between the bumper and guard under the headlight. If you've done all that you will be faced with wiring for the fog lights on both sides and in ADM Q50 RS at least, 4 nasty tight plugs on the driver's side for the ADAS stuff. So, the clips at the bottom look like this on drivers side (looking from the front) And on the passenger side (also from the front), you can see this one is already out Clearance on both of these are super tight; the condenser needs to move up but the upper rad support mount prevents that, and the radiator can't move down far because it is (rubber) mounted. Once you achieve the impossible and drop the condenser off those mounts so it does not stop the rad moving, you are good to go
    • OK, next the shroud needs to come off and there are a couple of tricks. Firstly, there is a loom from near the passenger side headlight to the fans, coolant temp sensor etc and there is no plug to undo.  In my case I was OK to leave the shroud on top of the engine so I just undid the passenger side fan plug and about 10 of the clips which gave enough free wire to put it aside. The fan plugs were super tight, the trick I used was a small falt screwdriver to push down on the release tab, then a larger flat screwdriver to lever the plug out of the fan unit....be careful with how much force you apply! If you need to remove the shroud altogether for some reason you will have to deal with all the plugs (tight) and clips (brittle)....good luck. I removed all of the clips and replaced them with cable ties that I will just cut next time. Also, in the Red Sport / 400R at least, the intake heat exchanger reservoir hose is bolted to the shroud in 2 places with 10mm headed bolts; so remove them (the hose stays in the car; no need to undo it at the t fittings down at the radiator lower mount. Once you've dealt with the HX hose and the wiring loom, there are 3x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the shroud to the radiator; remove those.   The shroud then lifts out of the bottom mounts where it sits on the radiator, up and onto the engine out of the way. Simples
