Went out for my first night shoot session last night with d-d & his 350D SLR, was a good night to learn a bit about night photography & have noticed some areas where we can improve.

Location & tripod placement by: geno8r & d-d

Photos snapped & 350D settings by: d-d

Photoshop tweaked by: geno8r

Look forward to the next session & pumping out some better shots.

Enjoy

thats cool.. real lightning? you have the camera on timer for that one?

looks like its choped though

Yeah added in photoshop, I don't care if photos are real or not, as long as they look good!

They look excellent!

The lightning one is outstanding, looks like the real thing.

The 3rd last photo of my car came up brilliantly in PS when i played around with it, that one seems fairly yellow!!

Till the next hawt photo session!

Ciao~~

Yeah I delib gave that photo green lighting, why... because it looks good! I've had the most comments on it so far on DeviantArt

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/48756534/

I've also got 2 other versions of it here @ home dave, 1. The original lighting tweaked, 2. ^ the green version, 3. A blue’ish version.

Might post up a few more variations later.

I'm not a photographer so don't take my word to seriously, but it looks like you went over the top with some of the flares on the lights in photoshop..... takes away from the car....

I'm not sure 100% sure what you mean, but if you’re saying I modified the light flares in Photoshop they’re actually un-modified, that’s how the photos came out from the camera / camera settings. On DeviantArt another guy said the same thing thinking that I actually added or enhanced the light flares, all I’ve done is tweaked the levels, hue, colours etc.

My main criticism of the photos is that we didn't get the right angle / amount of light on the cars sometimes (mainly mine due to it being black). But overall they still look pretty good due the location.

Although we were taking shots of the cars, the car isn’t the only focus, it was a good location with nice backgrounds due to the lighting so it was deliberate to include the background (with the cool lighting) in the right perspective into the shot

Next time will try to get better focus / lighting on the car, & depending on the background lighting, maybe reduce the aperture if there's too much light flaring going on.

first one seems like u used a high ISO, or adjusted the levels TOO much for it to come out noisy like that

The first shot I recently re-posted it with added sharpness. I like the grainy sepia look in that photo, if you look down to the other version (2nd last image) you’ll see its not as sharp & looks a little blurry in my opinion (yes due to too high ISO I think). A similar grainy image I think looks good is http://ic3.deviantart.com/fs14/f/2007/022/...2_by_geno8r.jpg

agree use lowest iso next time! less noise..otherwise some great shots

Yep! Agreed. I believe we were using ISO 800, we wanted nice colourful photos due to the nice lighting / location but it seems it was too high giving us too much nose, def will try 400, 200 next time.

Hey,

Lookn good. First pic of the 300 by itself is my favourite.

Last pic with the lightning is aight but the reflection off the side of the car puts it out of place.

I think alot of those photos with the cars by themselves would look better if the wheels weren't turned.

Nice work!

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
