man your 17 and own/drive a skyline, insurance companies are gonna love you. like some others have mentioned previously in this thread if you can't afford insurance for your car you've chosen poorly regardless if it's your dream car at the time.

do you understand why your paying such a premium?

yeah i can afford it its just crazy what insurance companies charge

I pay about $1K with Just Car for my R34GTT Coupe - just turned 22. Light mods (stereo, wheels, pod, exhaust), full retrim (thanks to UAT for materials). I'm just disappointed with their agreed value ($21K).

Anyone had luck with driving them up with regards to this figure?

i was paying $950 for my r33. thats when i was 23, and the agreed value was only about $15000.

on any of the cars i've owned i've never been charged extra for putting mods on. i've had 2 cars insured with just cars (the skyline and my old 180sx which was $1750 a year when i was 22). all the cars i have had i have done exhaust mods too (and the skyline also got a FMIC), and most of them i have put mags on, and never been charged extra.

gun metal gtr32 - you dont deserve anything with a motor in it, not even a pocket bike.

its not insurance companies who suck - it is you and you're driving history.

if you grew up and had a mature approach to driving and owing a car - you would not be in that situation.

not everbody with a skyline drives like that .i aprecaite my line for what it is i dont feel the need to flog it evertime i drive it mine hardly see's boost lol. ive never been pulled over in my line and have never lost my lisence and have prob only had 3 tickets in my whole driving period .i got my license when i was 16 im 48 now and used to drive for a living so i still say 21 losing la lisence for the 5th time ya bloody peanut . and oh yeah i really love paying $850 bucks a yr for full comp at agreed value of 18g

:-)

i gotta admit hes gota point but hey thats how it goes....

i can do you a good deal on one.

so your with just cars and never got charged extra for mods did you tell them you had these mods?

yes i told them. rang them up to tell them after i did each mod so i wouldn't get bent over if i had an accident.

I guess it depends on your driving record more than I thought.

I've got an 89 R32 GTR, I'm 24 and I pay $1200 a year, fully comp with an agreed value of $23,000.

Only 2 speeding fines no license losses.

Edit: forgot to add I'm with justcar.

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
