kinda vague on details.....what sort of speakers do you want? What sort of amp? Do you want an amp for both the speakers and the subs? If you want the speakers to run of the head unit what sort of power do you want the speakers to have? There are a million different head units almost all are mp3 compatible....you should chose what exact products you want, then get quotes from everyone, play them against each other until you get the best price. JB HIFI and WOW will be the cheapest on this gear by far. I can always get the best prices out of JB, though i do have connections. Their installs are good quality but at the same time its easy as to do yourself.

Ok let me clear some things up for you all then. I dont really care about power reading just a pretty decent system that will rock my socks off lol.

Id prefer to have the amp run the 2 subs and the front speakers. So if anyone can sorta arrange a quote for me in my price range id appreciate it heaps, basically i just want a nice clean system with a nice doof doof lol.

you pay for what you get. If you can save up $1k, then why not save an extra $500 and get high quality gear.

Strathfield get my recommendation cause they really looked after me when I got mine done. Spent many hours after installation helping me get rid of engine noise and claimed it under warranty when they prob didnt have to.

imo:

Sony GT700D head unit - $350

Pioneer 6" 4-way speakers (rear) - $130

Pioneer 6" + Splits for the front - $150 (guess price)

12" Sub in box - ~$300 depending on brand etc.

JBL 6 channel amp to run all speakers + Sub - $500

Installation - ~$200

total:

~$1600 for a system that will rock you.. if you buy it all at once, they'll knock $200 off the price easy.. i guess you gots to decide what you want. thats pretty much my system and I have no regrets its awesome to listen to. Your call, but either way, get strathfield to do a quote and don't be afraid to haggle cause they will knock a bit off.

Nah im not willing to spend that much, because i know how good it can sound in my price range heaps of my mates have done it for around my price range and i was amazed how good it sounds. Second thing is i dont know if you know how big r34 sedan boot is, you could probably fit a body in it lol (for n15mo :D), even if i have no boot space left, meh doesnt matter, not like i use it often anyway. I just like the idea of 2 subs looks fully hectic broooooooooooooooooooooo lol.

Im going to be honest here...

a 1000 dollar system that will rock your socks off... you are completly fooling yourself (not being mean here just being honest)

1. You want quality sound.. you use quality cabling.. that will cost a minimum of 200 bucks ( includes cross overs)

2. You want performance you get a decent deck ( sorry a sony deck wont cut it)

3. The quality is from the front end.. subs are meant for fill of the hz you cant hear with mids and tweets..

So you CAN skint on that.. but i dont reccomend it... however piss off the 12's and get 10's.. You want respsonse and a good recurve..10's all the way.... and anything more in a car is a waste of time

4. No point in getting expensive splits if you cant amp the power up... so between good splits and good amp... go the amp..

So heres what i would leave for a "blow your socks off system"

Deck : 500 - 5000

Cabling : 200 ( 4+2 gauge + gold crossover)

Splits : 100-300 bucks

Subs : 300 ( 10" x 2)

Amp : 500- 7000

Parts for Install ( clips // mda // nails glue etc) : 100

Total : 1700 - 12800

Cadence // SPL // Cleft Design // AudioBahn // JVC would be the only gear i would touch

and Cadence // Phoenix GOld for the cabling

sorry to bust your bubble there champ.. but them the ropes...

I spent 10,000 on my system last time ( 5 of that was on the deck) and it all matters.

heres a link of what was in my car Sound system in my old silvia

However you can get cheap stuff that will put out duff duff as follows

JL x 2 12"s in Box : 180

Kicker 6" Splits : 110

JL 4 channel Amp : 300

JVC Head Deck (mosfet power + 9amp minimum) : 500

Cabling : 200

Install : do it yourself?

Total : 1290

most of the stuff above you can get from JB hi fi.. they are pretty good and you can heckle em down.

need more info gimme a holla

Chris Rogers - Audio Express - 0407-102-839

I second this one... at least you know he has a rep and he knows what he's doing/ talking about too..

You need someone thats been in the game for a while to do your system n alarm if need be as apposed to someone thats learning to do car audio like most of the places are these days... everyone thats been in the game for ages usually work at the more "expensive" car audio shops that specialise in full custom etc.

I say Chris is the go... good luck anyways!

Apline and eclipse ftw. x-type splits, and eclipse head deck. x-type subwoofer....10" sealed box...and soundproofing.

That should set you around 1k without fitting... you forgot the amp tho... add another at least $300 for a 4 channel and thats not even that good lol

Best bet for a smaller type car is to get...

4 channel amp (run front splits and bridge 2 rear for the sub)

rear 6" speakers (Just to fill in the sound and run them off the unit)

front 6" splits (to get the most out of your sound quality treb and mid bass)

12" sub with decent box

Then cables and fitting...

I've done this sort of setup on a few different cars and it works out pretty good and should set you back around a 1k or maybe just a little bit over depending on what sort of head unit your after..

If you go for high end stuff like alpine focal or something it'll cost you a bit and the type x splits will be a tight fit in the door..

Even if you go for type S alpine equipment that stuff is cheaper now than before and is pretty good quality..

Best bet is to go and listen to a few different speakers in the sound boards.. choose your system and do a price on em but if you can get everything for $800.. fitting should cost you around $300 of everything or maybe a bit more

BTW you dun need 2 subs lol unless you wanna go deff from all the bass and have enough money to buy 2 amps.. 1 for subs one for speakers.. it gets pricey dude!

sumthing for Alex to consider, you dont need rear fill... the extra holes there will give a channel for the bass to come through....

that will save you a few bucks....

it will still sound good....

so

a decent head unit....

a set of splits..

a monoblock amp....

sub n box....

really all you need....

its not really how much you spend on parts its how you tune it...

just like your engin a properly tuned cheaper system will out do a very expensive system that has been badly set up....

So no amp for splits you reakon? And no rear fill?

His best bet is to hear some systems and see what he likes better but i agree with 110% that its in the tune...

yeah if your on a budget, you can spend more on quality parts and a good install...

He didnt want to go for spl he just wanted a good sounding system

run the splits from the head unit (you need a decent head unit with some decent out put)

me and my Lil bro have done so many diffrent installs and have worked with so many different budgets...

the man wants a cheap system with good sound i would say go for my option....

man i would spend more than his budget on my head unit alone....

get it tuned properly, remember your car is still quite small so a set of splits up front will do,

a) cos no one really sits in the back much

b) your the driver and it should be just about you

c) it really is a very small cabin

saying all that if you PM me i'm sure me and my little bro will be willing to help you install the system...

i think that the guy just wants any system that comes in under his budget thats going to be lound enough to hear from outside and sound "fulleh sik cuz". One sub would be good enough, two subs are overkill and useless as mentioned above and your better off saving the money from the extra sub and spending the money somewhere else or better yet saving some more money to get a better quality system THAT WILL LAST not break. If you just want to come in under your budget go to JB or WOW tell them your budget and they'll wack something together. Like many have said, I have spent more than your budget on a head unit, but you get what you pay for.

You budget sucks. Low quality systems sound like rubbish. Have you thought about buying high-end second hand gear?

I have a set (4) of 6inch Schneider speakers, came out of my 140db set up. In good, but used condition. The crossovers show wear and tear on the plastic casings, but you can't see them behind the door.

They were $2k for 4 a few years back. I want $500obo. You will need an amp to power them though.
