Thanks Paul,

What else - well basically what is the full functionality, what extras are needed to run what?

I am very interested in the auxilliary control features, temp compensation, dual control for thermo fans? etc. - just as much as you can get your head around telling me really.

have seen Steve pushing them pretty hard, so he must be pretty impressed with them which says alot for the ECU, also you seem pretty wrapped in yours. Just when I mention wolf and R33 over hear, people sort of duck for cover, I have had one place say 'bring it down and I will tell you what I think, but the last one I had anything to do with wasnt that good' (no specifics) - all end up just saying 'get a power fc'. Well I got a power fc, but doesnt wolf have sequential firing? And nobody knows.

So I NEED to know about them thoroughly before I decide to go for it and then find no one can tune them. Thats another thing that would be good, a run down on how the tuning software is?

I am a bit worried about any ECU that can be tuned for $200 - that sounds far too cheap for a good tune on a comprehensive ECU??????

From all that I have read the V4.1 would be better (almost) than an Autronic, esp when you consider its plug and play AND alot cheaper.

Its a shame that the ECU guys cant get on here and do a bit of hard sell, so we all have the most up to date details and can then make an informed decision.

And lastly - could you tell me exactly which model to get? It seems there may be more than one around at the moment?

Thanks again

Steve

Or you could make it the BIGGEST SAU CRUISE ever - pick up fellow members on the way and start an annual round australia cruise - just like the bikies do:D

Group buy wolfs in WA, and a big track day and BBQ before heading home! What do you say Steve? discount for interstate SAU members?

Actaully thats not as silly as it sounds. In syd its going to cost me $3000+ and im not confident im going to get what i want!!!

What does TNT car carrying/Finemores charge, from memory it was about $400 one way from syd. Virgin flight, i few nights on the town while she gets tuned, and a rap around a WA circuit.

If you got the time, its not a bad place to visit, and the skyline scene is pretty bit over there - sure some of the lads will look after you - they're a pretty friendly bunch.

On the way back you could do a few high speed runs on the nullabor - oh that is if wasnt illegal. Just make sure you have an oil cooler for barbagello:) (autobahn - $800 odd with thermostat)

Goddammit I think I am beginning to become a walking parts catalogue

Hi Guys,

I don't want to make are hard sell to any of you but I'm more than willing to lend you my bit of knowledge:D

The plug'n'play variety of Wolf Ver4 is much better than the generic version4, they are also very simple to install and setup. The version for the R33 GTS-t's have been used here with excellent results.

I don't know who is tuning them for $200 but that sounds a bit too cheap to me. They don't come with much of a map inbuilt so it needs tuning pretty much straightaway.

I know that Steve at SST retails the Wolf, including fitting and tuning for $2200, which is very competitive vs. many other ECU's.

The features in the plug'n'play are impressive, with built-in MAP sensor, boost controller, temperature compensation, rotational idle, anti-lag etc.

I think the reason the versions are confusing some people is that there are firmware upgrades to the ECU, or which you should get 6months of free upgrades. Other features such as mapping boost vs. rpm (launch control) have been added since the first release.

The tuning software is Windows based and is very easy to use for any tuner, and easy enough for most people to have a tinker with.

The Wolf has an number of auxillary inputs and outputs which can be configured in a myriad of ways.

I hope I have answered some of your questions, feel free to ask more.

Cheers

Paul

Thanks Paul, I do have another quesiton/s (and probably more to follow) - the inbuild boost control, what does it use to control boost? Does it come with a solenoid? Or do you need to get one of these? Could it be used with say an apexi boost control solenoid (as I already have one of these with the power fc)?

... see this is why i have the sh1ts, ive bought a Power FC, but i want a WOLF for all these features!!! It would seem i can off load the FC pretty easily, so still looking to somehow arrange a WOLF install.

Work won a contract in perth for Jan this year, bu the job was delayed, in which time this company's share prices have crashed so i doubt they are still wanting to spend $$$ with my company. Would have worked out nicely, never know still may.

Just thought i'd mention a finding of some recent web browsing...

www.greenline.jp have the PowerFC for 80,850 yen + H/C for 28,875 + shipping 5,500 yen = AU $1,528.

Thats damn cheap if you ask me.

any opinions in here on the Link ecu?? i think its mostly used in WRX's anyone have any experience with them in a skyline?? i have heard many good things about them in other cars (mainly rex's) but dont dont know of any in a 'line tho

Steve, I believe that the Wolf can use the stock solenoid, or aftermarket ones, but I don't know off the top of my head whether it will work with all aftermarket ones. It is possible to use one of the auxillary inputs and a potentiometer to provide a fully variable boost controller like an EBC.

I'll speak to Steve tommorow and try and get a more definate answer on which solenoids it will work with:D

Cheers

Paul

Why dont you go and visit Steve at SST and ask him what he thinks and what the ecu can provide. Take all the info you have on the autronic, tell him what you like about the autronic, and see what the wolf has to offer. At least you live somewhere that the knowledge and experience is readily available - use it to your best advantage.

    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
