Weird R32 GTSt factory brake options

I own a R32 GTSt and have found something very interesting with the brakes.

I wanted to change the rotors so ordered in some R32 GTSt disc rotors: A 280mm diameter, 30mm thick disc rotor (for the front). These are the factory spec - and can be found in the DBA catalouge.

When I took the rotors of my factory R32 GTSt I found that the rotors were 280mm diameter, 22mm thick.:(

The 30mm rotors would not fit into the callipers!:)

Is anybody aware of any R32 GTSt’s that came out of the factory with smaller brakes? (280 x 22)

Would normal R32 GTSt callipers and rotors fit on this model?

Would R32 GTR Brembo’s bolt straight on as well?

I would appreciate any assistance, even if only to point my in the correct direction of where to find this information.

I've done a bit more research and it seems that the 4 pot calipers were an optional extra (technically standard on an M spec) - but could still be optioned out.

The single pistoned caliper is the same as a S13 200SX brake.

I checked my model spec KRCR32RGFSM AA - which is defintely a 5 spd manual M spec GTSt (don't know what the AA stands for) - so my only guess it was optioned out - or changed over before it landed in Oz

Means with a bit of modding (ripping off the dust covers) a GTR brake will fit under there nicely.

If anyone hears more about factory options - I'm still interested

Do you have standard rims? Remember the 4 pot's stick out alot more and require different offset rims. If you have aftermarket ones theres no quarantee they will fit.

Just something else to think about if you didnt already have enough. By the way the 4 pots are commonly bolted onto S13 silvias and 180SX's so theres no problems bolting them up. Clearance is the main issue.

PS: I though the M Spec was HCR32, not KRCR32?

Yeah the type is E-HCR32, where E stands for petrol, and HCR32 is the model type.

I've posted another thread about decrypting the VIN plate (which my other research project - related to determine why I have such pissy brakes)

Might check out the availability of 4 pots on Silvia's - almost all have 4 stud wheels which means the rotors wont go on my 5 stud hubs.

The car if defintely M spec from the model spec, but also it has a std GTSt steering wheel, not the snazzy M spec wheel. So it seems the car is a factory M spec with a couple of downgraded options.

Maybe the original buyer didn't quite have enough money, and had to deoption the car.....maybe I'll never find out.

Thanks for the caliper tip though, I'll let you know what I find out

RC = rwd, R = M spec, 32 =R32, GF=manual (that's about all that is confirmed at this point)

An offer worth considering.....

Would that full set of GTSt brakes come with a master cylinder as well.

I have a bad feeling if I upgrade my calipers, that I will also have to upgrade my master cylinder.

I will try to work out this week what the part number for the big brake master cylinder is, and if that is what I already have installed in my car.

I've got a hunch though that I will have a much smaller master cylinder (to go with my 180SX size brakes).

Thanks for the offer though Dragan, I wont keep you hanging too long.

      Pads for R32 GTS-t, R32 GT-R non V-Spec (Sumitomo), R33 GTS-t and R34 GT-t are all interchangeable. R34 GT uses a 2x piston caliper, hence it didn't fit.

      Checked with amayama and nope, the full S2 manual set is not available anymore. Unsurprising, but still disappointing as the ? on availability gave a glimmer of hope.

      I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.

      The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.

      Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
