Hey guys i need help from the experts

i just recently did some work to my r32

i need your help as you have had a similar setup

I have gone overkill on turbo size i think i listened / trusted a mate of mine

that thinks he knows everything now im up the shit. this is my setup 217rwkw

Fmic

fuel pump

660cc denso injectors (also overkill i might change to gtr ones) im after 250rwkw max? will gtr ones handle this?

gt30 a/r 0.7 im not sure on other specs of turbo i think he said something about 0.63 but im not too sure on the plate it says 70077-5014 i spoke too someone else and they said the compressor wheel is too big for the engine but housing is ok i not too sure i dont know much im still learning

The guy i spoke too said i should buy a 3071 turbo with 0.81 housing and basically swap the turbos over in the housing so i can sell the other compressor wheel with the 0.81 to someone with a r33 im not sure about this?

at the moment my car hits boost at like 5000 and drops off at 6500

its way too lagy for me

I want too hit boost at maybe 3500 4000 (4500 max if its at this level i will try a cam)

i dont know anything about turbo's thats where i screwed up in the first place

my car is only makin 217rwkw

I need help sorry bout the long thread even if you have contacts i can call that know the rb20 and about turbo chargers id appreciate it Ive searched and stuff but i get no where i need to talk properly with someone

or get somone to analyse my setup

a gt30 is just too big

the rb20 cant drive the exhaust side fast enough

i would sell it and go for an off the shelf garrett gt28

go for the smallest spec you can find, maybe 0.64 a/r rear

thats probably the biggest you would want to run

so you rekon sell the whole thing as is and go for the gt28

i wanna really make sure this time i would like to even get all the part numbers ect so i know exactly what to buy

will that come on boost alot lower (4000 till 7500) and build boost lower at like 3000?

Any other opinions? Please i wanna order one on monday

Honestly...i have seen some GT30 setups work well on RB20s.

So i suppose the question is need to find out the specifics of the turbo you are using...and i would be interested to know if anyone has had success with cam gears on an RB20.

There is somehting a little askew with your setup. The lag looks like a pain...but thats ok if it turns out a healthy 250-260rwkws. Which it should be able to do.

So the devil is normally in the detail. What diameter (actualy measure it) exhaust and brand are you running? What cat are you running? What brand of intercooler are you running? Are you running a BOV? Does the tuner know what he is doing? How much boost are you running? How much are you willing to run?

My bet is your exhaust is hurting combined with the tune accomodating the high back pressure

Exhaust is supposed to be 3 inch dont think its any particular brand.

high flow cat and i think its a hybrid coola. no bov

im running 20psi probably wouldnt go more than that anything lower boost the turbocharger doesnt make anywhere near as much power

its only effiecient at high levels

who else can tune a wolf 3d version 5 that knows the rb20?

So you only made 217rwkws with 20psi from a GT30?

There is something very wrong...and dont go ordering anything on Monday until you work it out.

How old is the exhaust? Is it possible a muffler has collapsed? Is it possible that the high flow cat you installed is a piece of sh1t?

You should be making way more power with your existing setup. You dont need cams and you dont need a "high flow head". They wont fic whatever problem you have at the moment. The head and cams are fine for the power you are chasing. Its possible cams may help a little...but they are not the reason you are only making 217rwkws

You need to fault find your current setup and work out why its not making power. And personally, dont listen to ppl sayign its only an RB20. They make power and dont have to be terribly laggy. You just need to be sure you have all bases covered.

My case in point is this R34 RB25 with Poncams vs RB20, same dyno and tuner. I would much rather the RB25 graph, but tell me the difference justifies the laggy tag RB20s wear?

There is something wrong with your setup, and its not the turbo. iIf you are in a bind for tuners perhaps give Steve Cox a call at Quick Fit Motorsport in Hornsby. He is an Autronic agent and a very good tuner. He sorted out my Microtech and does a lot of custom injected cars so may be able to sort out your problem
