Try Ric Shaw Performance. Dad (Bonkers) has had very good things to say about Ric. See this thread for more details

I will be taking my car there as soon as I get an issue sorted with it.

If you live at noosa though how come your getting car tuned in sydney?

Dan.

my car is down there now alllready and it is hard tryin to find some1 reputable up here.

I am pretty sure i am gonna get croydon racing development to tune it. they have years of experience with tha power fc

hope u bring ur check book though! my friend supposably was getting his car tuned their for $140... but his car wasn't boostin properly and they had to use a few cable ties to secure the vacum lines (his gts-t s2 got 156rwkw @ 12psi with dumpy back exu & filter is that normal?)....well any way 40mins later when he had to pay they said that'll be $375!!!!.....a bit david jones for mine maybe they jus saw us comin?or may be thats why they changed their names from " croydon autowroughts"... to croydon racing developments.

There are lots of recommendations for tuning and other work - but let's just say I'd never go to any place that change their pricing (much) from their original quote... esp. not $140 -> $375.

Put it this way, I paid $1,000 (for example) to change a turbo and things went up shit creek but it still ended up costing me $1,000 even though I wasted a lot of peoples' time and patience.

I got told on avg it tends to be $600 for a full days work. They empty the fuel tank and fill it with fresh fuel. THey then check all the hoses for vaccuum and ic pipes check plugs and make sure right heat range gaps etcc and just generally go over the mechanicals 2 check evrythin b4 they even start it on the dyno. Then when tuning they don't just change af ratio they can change just about every parameter the power fc offers with the laptop software they use, rather than just stuffin round wit a commander =P

I don't mind paying for quality work

I will let u know how it goes

You're kidding yourself if you think there are lots of tuners who have the Apex'i software.

Datalogit? Maybe... but not the full on Apex'i licensed software.

I'm not willing to do a full on dyno tune until I'm COMPLETELY finished with all engine mods.

And at this junture I need close onto $3,000 to finish everything off, so hopefully not too far now :(

T.

The power fc commander is exactly that... a commander... you can change evey parameter in the computer that is required for tuning the car that it is designed for, which I believe is some 800+ parameters.

Croydon is not my choice as for the money they charge I can get my car tuned twice at Ric Shaws, and I have heard and seen similar results from both.

that power figure seems low, but then, the dyno settings may have been set to abnormal conditions, or maybe it has a monster torque curve instead :(

ed,

Your power out put is proportional to the amount of boost you run mostly. If it has a power fc the it will manage the engine a bit better and can be programmed to give more fuel change timing etc to gain a little more power. If it had a power fc then probably a mark of 175-190rwkw depending on condition of other engine parts and connections etc.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
