better not be too much down here (nsw qld border) i have a game of golf on tomorrow morning...

no offence meant buddy, but surely a some decent rainfall for you guys down there is a little more important than golf..... from what we hear up here you guys are in a serious drought......

It's not that bad, it's just that the rain dosen't fall where it is needed due to bad planning of dam location many years ago.

fair as nuts

was down on the border of vic/nsw last november at is is shocking down there

at least we can wash our cars up here :)

I wouldnt go that far, as there arent that many options for damn placements... But thats another story. You say its not that bad, wait for level 5 next month :) Thats going to hurt a bit more than people may think.

No I meant that it isn't that bad as far as rainfall levels go. My grass is green and the weeds are going strong without any additional water. If I had a rainwater tank, I am sure that it would have overflowed plenty of times. Just when you go out west (Ipswich area) that you notice it.

its rained here pretty much every nite of the week this week (well, there was water on my back deck in the mornings anyway)

we did get a good thunderstorm about a month ago though.... best for years.....

my oldies are still back in cairns, cant believe dry its been up there

they loved the storm the other nite when the lions played the saints and it was a big bog

not like cairns to be dry . . ..

ha ha putting a dam on the largest catchment by far in our area is a heaps bad Idea

Well where has it got us? Why all this talk about puting a dam in the Gympie area?

Common sense states that you will always get more rainfall east of the hills (ie. Mt Glorious, Nebo). It's all well and good puting in in a big catchment area, but if that catchment area isn't going to provide much water in the future then it's not much use.

There are plenty of other options out there. Look at how much water goes into the storm water system and then out to sea. Rain water tanks should have been thought of by the government years ago, not just now.

    • Nah that is not actually a lot. Just painting my GTR frontend and the little bits to make sideskirts/nismo flare pieces work correctly/fit on the sedan/mount up correctly came to about $7000. Is it a lot? Sure. None of this is economical. Economy would be shelling the car and buying a 2010 Corolla to commute in. The perspective of all of this is different.
    • I have the re003s’ on my 06 XT Forester Turbo and I highly rate them for street wet and dry
    • I don't see any issues here. I've been saying all along this is a big job, the price reflects that.  When the car comes back perfect I'm sure it will feel like money well spent.
    • Remember, take original quote. Double it. Then add a bit more. It's how any project goes.
    • So, I started this repair and got as far as "fixing" the holes with some fibreglass. God all those years working on boats came back quickly. I decided I'd reach out to some rust guys just to see what they would say about it. I came across a guy about 40 mins away and went to see him. He said the windscreen needs to come out, that there might be some more bits around the windscreen and he'd quote them at the time. But his quote was $300 to remove and replace windscreen and $3k for the damage he can see. He said he could respray the roof for $1200 and the bonnet for another $800 (somebody has previously rattle canned it, its horrendous). This is $5300 + any small additional bits. It's a lot, I get that and the name of one of my fave youtube channels 'Not Economically Viable' comes to mind.  I'm not being financially rational, but I've taken him up on the quote. He's opening a new shop in November with more room, so we're waiting for that. I'll leave the currently missing headliner out until then. I'm looking forward to it being fixed and having the paint looking nice again (lots of clear coat issues on the roof too). / flame suit on.
