If you get a douche bag cop you'll get done just because he can. That said cops are more relaxed about exhausts then before.

My friends 33 got defected for having the battery in the boot. which as we all know is stock standard set up for 33's. So depends on the cop

wat a pig ? so wat did the cop said to your mate ?

nah its not too loud, sounds like any other skyline, one thing is that the exhaust sound is pissing me off inside the car, i wonder if anyone else has this effect where the exhaust seems like its right next to your ear, also it makes a VERY SLIGHT rattling noise at around 5000-6000 rpm, should i get a resonator? one more thing, there was somekind of sensor at the end of the stock exhaust, is that important?

which sensor? wat do u mean by end of the stock exhaust ? sensor after the turbo or sensor in cat- converter ?

My mate said it comes like that, and the cop said it had to be enclosed by something better then the plastic gaurd that they come with, and then me and my other friend drove past and stopped to say hello and my other friend said his 33 was like that too. Then the cop told me to leave or he'd defect me too. They got him for heaps and heaps of useless stuff like tints, steering wheel, and the usual rims exhaust bov tyres. Being a shit sturer (spelling?) my friend decided to tell the cop he was just jelous he didn't have line. Ended up with two counts of not inicating out of round-a-bouts, one ocount of not staying to left of round-a-bout (something done in a carpark) and a long list of defects. So it does come down to the cop and/or how much you encourage them

....and is that the full story?

Battery in the boot may be a part of the standard set up, but the battery needs to be a sealed unit if it's in the boot.

If it wasn't a sealed unit, then the Police were doing your friend a favour, not picking on him.

damn, theres never a cheap way is there :S oh well thanks guys, it seems to be quietening down a little, i went back there to see if he had accidently left a hole in the weld, but all seems fine, so ill just put up with it lol. sounds awesome, GO THE RB's, oh yeh and a funny story when i was at the muffler place, some dude in a suzuki sierra was getting a muffler put in, after it was done he started it up and the look on his face was so funny, he turns around to me and goes why doesnt it sound like yours, i couldnt help buy say why dont you put an RB in there and see what happens lol.

Nothing was changed in the boot was sealed as per stock can vouch for it.

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
