Hi guys received my hybrid fmic kit today and going to install it with a mate. Read all the threads to do with the install but got 2 questions even after reading them all.

What do you use to cut the fan blades if needed?

Everyone mentions that you need to screw in a nipple for the boost. I am running factory boost...do i still need to do this or is that only for aftermarket boost controller?

any help asap would be great

cheers

i used the same kit on my 32, to trim the blades i used a stanley knife/box cutter whatever you want to call it to trim just the corner of the blades that come in contact with the pipe, assuming its for a 33 should still only be a couple of centimteres at most. as for the nipple thing, i didnt do it on mine but then again i am under the impression that only 33's have to do it... hope that helps

Small version of a hack saw works, but before you start hacking into it make template out of paper and apply the template to each blade with a nikko. Once these are cut neaten it up emery paper.

You will see on the stock return piping (the side with the BOV on it) there is a nipple that goes to the boost solenoid, if your FMIC kit has an identical nipple here you won't have to put one in. How ever if there isn't go down to Repco and get a nipple the same diameter as the stock and tap it into the new intercooler piping about where the stock one was.

Yes, you need the nipple, even for stock boost.

You're running stock boost now and your using the nipple.

FMIC makes no difference, it's still needed.

The pressure feed from the nipple to the wastegate makes the wategate open to let out excess exhaust gasses keeping the boost low at 7psi.

If you don't have that feed (ie, no nipple) your boost WILL keep going up in excess of 1bar (14psi) and eventually loose blades out the back and into the Cat.

** Get the nipple **

May as well do it while it's not installed, should be pretty easy.

There's a discussion about that too somewhere
