got done for a bov awhile back, then it got defected again.

the defect i bought it on was for the height of the rear wheel arch being too low and something really minor I cant think of atm. Just been taking its time getting other stuff done, like air-flow metre switch for the computer etc.

the 11th it goes through regency, so hopefully by that weekend the struts, etc have been swapped back :)

I shall enjoy the FJ.... big step up from a pintara lol. the hard part will be trying not to kill myself in it haha

Yeah last i heard from crimmo it'd been done for a bov, cop followed all the vacuum lines until he found the bov! Bastards!!

Height of the rear wheel arch being to low??? WTF???? OR are you talking in the back of the car was to low???

It had a haltech in it as well yeah?? Did you swap the haltech back out for the standard ecu????

Your lucky its got the vg30 on it, at least its a nice progressive turbo, nothing like the standard thing, light switch on at 4k jobby bloody things, can anyone say LAG!

Tom said they measured the wheel arches. but he also said the cops had no idea, and were protesting it was an R31 and doing everything as if it were an r31 cos thats all they had on their systems. but apparently the car has gone through regency a few times at that height, so the cops must of been f**kheads.

Yeah still has the Haltech in it, but someone is working some magic on it for regency :)

You know more bout my car then me :) I had no idea bout the turbo. I only listened to 1/2 of what Tom was saying bout it...... I just wanted a DR30 and made my mind up bout buying the car before I had looked @ it the flesh haha.

Now your making me look forward to driving my car even more =D

Show them the rego sticker which quite plainley states in there that its a DR30, even on the fire wall...bloody gay police officers!! Only time i've been pulled over, (first day i owned it mind you) they tried to do me for height, but had nothing in the book on my car, did licence and rego check and was sent on my way...only to blow the alternator up not long after...bloody bloody!

What magic are they working on the haltech can i ask?

Yeah i know a little bit about it, was around crimmo a fair bit whilst he was rebuilding it and giving it some love lol!! Its a clean as car though!

That reminded me of the other defect, the old number in the firewall wasnt in there, cos it got damaged, Tom in his wisdom never got around to putting the new plates in.

I got told by my brothers mate, that the cops have nothing pre 31, so just like you said the Dr30 should only be a warning when comes to that shit  Im also going to keep the papers from Regency in there also just to be safe, so they cant harass me too much.

Stuipid thing though, I heard the car has been through regency a number times at the same height and never been questioned, Tom must of ran into the wrong cop when he got defect. but atleast I got a cheap DR30 out of it :P

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
