Sorry to hear it Max but at least you're ok.

Alan

P.S. I dont think a cruise to Phillip Island would be the same in a mini. And where you said that you "never really think the insurance is worth it" well if I couldnt afford the insurance I wouldnt drive the car but I suppose you dont need to hear that now.

OK guys i've gone to have a look and i've taken some pictures. I will post em up as soon as i can (later tonight).

Basically it appears all that needs to be repaired is everything in front of the engine. i.e. the radiator support panel (the major thing) and replace the 2 front quarter panels, bonnet, headlights, front bar. not cheap, but i don't think its 8k worth either

anyways you'll see what i mean when i post the pics.

yeah man get some quotes b4 you right it off and get it out of the wrecking yard and home

thats the best even if you have to pay for the tow make sure every thing is in the car.

this sux but your still better off when you think about it insurance wise.

hunt around for the parts and I reckon you could get it fixed then if you feel that way do what to fardown said and sell the car.

shit happens to all of us I poped the motor in my cefiro and it sux big time but what can I do you jsut fix it and move on

meggala

Do the doors still open and close without hitting the front guards? Is the roof buckled at all? Are the front and rear windscreens still intact? Does the engine start and run? Did any oil leak out of the motor/power steering when the impact occured?

You may have someone interested in purchasing it, post further details.

damn NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, you havent had it that long either ;) *crys*

i never knew that the support behind the fron bar offered protection... DOH! i just had mine cut away to fit my intyercooler, hopefully my intercooler qill protect me in case im unlucky too (its ****ing big enough it should)

but live and learn biddy, unfortunately it seems like it wasn't really a 'mistake' so to speak, you just got unlucky for a split instant :( thats why i hate my car in the wet :(

i feel for ya bro :(

bozz: the passenger door doesn't open without hittin the guard, but thats because the guard has come off itself, the chassis has not bent. The engine runs but it leaked some sort of coolant but i believe it was from the air-con. No roof buckling whatsover and windscreens are completely intact. I reiterate that it was a very low speed collision.

The car itself is definitely not a write off in terms of damage, far from it, its just a matter of whether i can afford to get it fixed or not.

Put it this way, i have a pretty big pod filter and it survived completely intact, and it was always very close to the left-front of the car where the centre of the impact occured. The right head light even managed to survive.

i'm going to post some pictures up now, but most of them came out blurry (crappy digi-cam). You can get an idea tho.

ehh Maximus im so sorry to hear man!!!

If I was in your position I would probably wanna kill myself, although thats not a positive thing to do.

So I would get quotes from all over the place and see if this dude that quoted u $4,000 just for labor is pulling your leg.

I know a guy named Jim Spena, whom is a family friend and he owns Glen Waverly Pannels, he does a top job.

When I had my first car I did a handbrakey into a keep left sign smashing the rear quarter pannel. They had fixed it, taken out all my dints and gave it a respray and the car unfortunately a lancer looked brand new just better paint. The sprayed it with 2pac paint made it nice and glossy.

If I had to reccomend a place I would reccomend them, If you decide to see what they have to say tell Jim that Mark Kearns told you to go there.

If you did get your car fixed, I think its worth keeping it.

But thats my opinion ;)

take care mate

    • Out of curiosity, how do you cover up the inspection hole? Surely it doesn't sit open like that, right? With grime and dirt coming in and oil going out?
    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything
