Bah!@Stockies.

I'll be out there on my good tyres, I didn't tear the last set up overly much at all especially from what everyone was saying. Although, I DID flat spot them from locking up. One thing I have to avoid this time... :)

Although Owen, you'll scrub on your guards, mine did the first time I was out, but now won't due to being raised!!! :domokun:

Haha you do remember how overley big Owens wheels are for his car.. they will stuff the car up for sure..

Owen, borrow a set of stockies..

there wont be much more benefit from having wider tyres as the track is half wet and dry.

if u have stockies it would prob be best to just use them and no need to worry...

The thing is the tyres arent just wide.. they are too big for the car.. silly people putting massive gtr wheels on gtst's :domokun:

And having one wheel sit an inch outside of the guard!

I know how big they are, they basically sat how mine used to. Just one of his tyres sits outside the guard for some frakked up reason...

Edit: Nismo: Twas only joking, was all part of the fun... :)

Edit2: I'll most likely be out with stockies on the rear too... Fronts will be good tyres.

J's car will have the other two of my "new" stockies...

yeah i thought my car doesnt roll, and it doesnt lol. but when you spin, trust me it will roll. the photo of me spinning shows exactly that... the back is dead flat but front wheels have moved so much, i couldnt beleive it there must have been some nice twisting action lol

the track is not really wet, it just has a river through it the rest was dry. stock wheels are the go if you have some with rubber

  • 2 weeks later...

um neither. its off the screen, below the sheds. you drive in past the sheds, turn right at scrutineering (you dont line up, just go paston their left) and head down past the hillclimb things

this has taken ages to come around....been looking forward to the day for ages now....fingers cross it wont be as hot as last time.....we all died in the heat and alot got sunburnt....

yeah your right its taking ages, but i bet despite sitting here like leyton hewitt (come on!!) i still wont be ready for it til the night before. all i gotta do is change the oil lol but you know.

yep droping oil this weekend, do a service it i think.....havent changed the spark plugs on a skyline yet.....anyone know the easiest way to get in their? havent tried yet, is the plastic cover hard to get off?

Also the plastic guards are under the oil filter, anyone know a trick way to change the oil filter withour droping oil onto the plastic? cant clean that up and will drop oil everywhere when i drive and on the driveway.

what sparkies should i get? can you just go to repco and ask for r33 skyline, cause its an import do they stock the parts?

Prob should have put this in the right section to get an answer...oh well too lazy....

    • Thanks mate, couldn't find in VIC, ended up ordering one from NSW, getting rwc to get new plates and registration done.
    • Before all the EFR fan boys come in, have a look at: https://www.garrettmotion.com/racing-and-performance/performance-catalog/turbo/g-series-ii-g30-825-58mm/ It also comes in a T4 1.06 divided housing. I would dare say if you want response & also decent power, this thing would chop.   AND apologies, just re-read your post, you've already bought the turbo... whatever you do, make sure you stick with divided housing and proper twin scroll manifold.
    • People have got to stop doing that. ShatGPT is not a search engine. It is a hallucination factory.   I also would recommend the 1.05. The .83 will "work" for you , in that it will be more responsive, but I think you'll find that it won't be anywhere near as good running it out to 8000rpm as the big housing will be.
    • Decided for the first time ever I would tow my car TO the track day on the same working theory as bringing tools and spares "if I have it I wont need it, but if I leave it behind i will 100% need it" all setup and ready to go out and try these A050 for the first time First session showed I needed to stiffen up the dampers a touch but still managed a few 1:21's without much effort. things were looking good. Came in a dropped the tyres down  to 26/28 as they had gotten to 35/33C from 22C cold The first lap of session two I managed to drop into 1:20's. Then in the second lap into the second session. Coming into T3 and I suddenly lost brake pedal followed by some huge rear end vibrations and scraping sounds. Got it back into the pits after session ended and found this. in the attached video, all of the wobble is in the hub its self, wheel is mint, and bearing feels tight. lKXLqpd - Imgur.mp4   Deciding it was a bent spindle I tried to find bearing/hub assembly locally but was unsuccessful so it was loaded back onto the trailer i luckily brought it on to drag it back home
