1.) if this is for sound, just loosen one of your dump pipe bolts..

the gasket will burn out on that corner and you will hear the same stupid god awful screaching sound of an exhaust leak... this is exactly how a stock turbo, internal wastegate to atmo will sound.

That would sound like garbage and you know it. Exhaust leaks sound nothing like atmo venting screamers. Interesting advise coming from a police officer though, as this would also be clearly illegal.

2.) I work for QLD Police.... they can and will fine you the $10K...

As with any cop.. it depends on the individual cop who stops you. and your attitude at the time.

So you think that you, the police, get to play judge and jury as to what the fine should be? We have seperation of powers for this exact reason.

I train with a couple of them who were so annoyed with the individual driver with a bad attitude that they made an example of them..

Interesting, so you're admitting that police officers you know have made decisions based on handing out infringements of breaking the law, not on the law that was broken, but the attitude of the person? Again, we have seperation of powers for this reason. We also have courts to overturn these fines handed out by overzealous police officers who believe they hold the power to decide what punishment is fit.

Also, unless you have an engineers certificate for "ANY" modification from stock, you can be made to remove it.

so the guy above where his mates had to return to stock is very much possible.

I hope you have lied about your position as a police officer. As you are clearly the problem with police today, you just have no idea. Maybe you should refresh your training, and your mates while your at it by taking a quick look at the QLD transport website. I make reference to this article. http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/resources/...ion_jan05v2.pdf there are many modifications which require NO engineers certificate as you mention. So once again, the guy who returned everything to stock was misinformed and probably misled by police such as yourself who are unaware of the law.

de-reg and dodgey road worthy will be and has been found out before too.

that caused a larger fine than the so called mythical $10K fine..

make of this what you will.

Dodgy road worthies have been happening for years and the fine that it carries is primarily based towards the person who is doing the road worthy. Not the motor vehicle owner. The mechanic is the certified professional. The car owner is taking their car there for certification of road safety and hence is not liable for the actions that the mechanic takes. I don't agree with dodgy road worthies but it's not the owners fault if the mechanic is dodgy.

Make of this what you will. I look forward to your response.

eh all i have to say is that maybe you should have PM'd to everyone instead of posting it on here..

7/10

needed more heart and emotion

huh? I dont get your post? Are you saying I should have pm'd him?

what is keegs like the one who is always right or somethin seriously dude ease up on people you don't have to try and prove everyone wrong seriously

I'm not trying to prove him wrong. According to transport he is wrong. I feel that he shouldn't spout information trying to scare people of their modifications when his information isn't correct. If your seriously offended...maybe you havent been active on the forums very long.

huh? I dont get your post? Are you saying I should have pm'd him?

Hey man just trying to keep you out of trouble. The mods dont really like people flaming other people.

And not just PM'd him i mean lots of people :)

I vote you all pull ya farkin heads in. If we have someone posting on here who works for the above mentioned authourity he can be of far greater service to us than all the combined mindless drivel we go on with at times.

I vote for the copper. :)

the big point that keegs hit on the head was that cops have no idea about half the laws they are enforcing with regards to modifications... how many threads do we see about people getting defected for legal mods ? i'd really like to see the ability to hand out defect fines by cops removed, or at least proper training provided so they dont hand out incorrect defects.

you muppits.

I said I work FOR QPS.

I didn't say I was a cop.

FFS..

The point I make with my first point is that yes.. a stock turbo with internal gate venting to atmo sound like garbage.. it sounds nothing like an external gated turbo venting to atmo.

it indeed sounds like an exhaust leak.

my second point was something you should all already know.

atmo venting wastegate is illegal.

If you get pulled over for something and your car gets checked over, the cop can decide to "overlook" the defect and just say "you can't have that like that, make sure you get it sorted, or he can go by the book and book you for the defect, AND, suggest that it be taken over the pits.

Ban me for telling you how it is?

what a bunch of fairies..

I've been a member of these forums for alot longer than most of you here.

only recently moved to QLD but that's not the point.

So this thread is about someone asking "who makes screamer pipes for stock turbo's"

I don't know..

but I have heard a screamer pipe on a stock turbo's skyline and it sounds like ass.

I also simply commented on someone elses point about the fine not being true.

Keegs... good reply.

and very true on most parts.

But as you said, there are cops who don't follow the law to the last point..

Same as most people on this thread yelling, "get no cat and screamers bro"

"double flames bro"

The skyline community goes on and on about getting bad publicity, and then we've got our own members with the above attitudes.

anyway, I couldn't care less what you do with your own car.

I was merely pointing out what can/does happen.

i was in my friends s15 the other week and he got fined for having aftermarket exhaust and fmic, as these are non standard accessories, when we questioned this, the cop pulled out some paper that looked like he just typed up at home and showed us where it said exhaust mods are not allowed, exhaust is also extremely quiet for a 3" and i doubt it would be over the legal limit, cop also said in june some laws are comming out which will let police tow your car away if you have any mods such as this, is any of this true or is it all BS, ps cop was also talkin up his 6.0l v8 and comparing it to the s15 (which he called a skyline) haha

hmm yeah i have heard of people getting fined for a fmic, but not an aftermarket exhaust if it wasnt loud. as for those rules, thats just BS.

IMO you should fight those fines, you are allowed to modify your vehicle acording to transport legislation. As I outlined before you can do "simple mods" without an approval so long as they comply with certain legislation (ie noise and pollution req's) If a cop fines you, take it to court, it's simple and it's the only way.

Scarface: That cop is probably referring to the "hoon legislation" which has been in effect for ages. Chances are he is, like many police, without any idea of the law and wish simply to frighten modified car owners with false information.

    • Gday Thought it was about time I started a build thread! As expected this project has snowballed into a huge financial liability, but unless you’re strong willed and responsible, it’s not a surprise. Background -  My first turbo car was an R32 GTS-4, got my full license and then totalled my Au Falcon a week later, so while trying to sell my RMZ450 dirtbike to buy another car a bloke offered to swap the R32 which at the time I felt like I was ripped off but looking back and seeing prices of those now ($40kish) it was a good deal, I didn’t know enough about these cars to appreciate what I had so sold it before the RB20 blew up. Between here and there, out of 12 cars I’ve owned the note worthy ones are a V8 Lexus SC400 (soarer), a couple of XR6 Turbos and my beloved S15 which I had for about 3 years, picked it up for $12500, repairable write off but she was fine, gun metal grey/pewter and bone stock/unmolested until I got my hands on it. Ended up spending about the value of the car and 280kw, 2 demerit points by the time I got defected and sold it for $14500 (also $40kish in today’s market, rip) Fast forward to the present day, I’m in a much better position financially and daily an MQ Triton (great cars, pipe down Ranger Bois), I cruised marketplace and car sales for a few months looking for another R32, the best deal I could find was an absolute rust bucket half finished project for $12000, until this R33 popped up in Port Macquarie for $18k - unregistered and barely running but decent shape, kept an eye on it for a few weeks and the price steadily dropped, $16k then $15k then $14k, that was the point where I was like shit someone’s gonna snatch this up! It was owned by a young bloke who had big plans but him and his missus just had a baby so smartest move financially for them but big gain for me. So 2 days later I’m towing a car trailer to pick this thing up. Roughly 2 weeks and $3500 later I’m cruising around Newcastle in my beat up R33 all smiles and dose noises! It only needed some basic shit to get it going, coil packs and air flow meter, electrical stuff and all fluids changed, 158k kms and running pretty good, nice smooth engine after oil and coolant flush - when I say coolant I mean it had been filled up with tap water, every gallery and heater element was filled with rust, 8-9 flushes later and still had brown liquid coming out but she’ll be right. The car was painted R34 Bayside Blue at some point but whether it was a cheap job or just not looked after is anyone’s guess, clear coat flaking like sausage roll.  Was rethinking my choices and contemplating life, had it up for sale for $22k - still cheaper than any registered R33 but got little interest, next minute I had an opportunity at work - 6 months overseas for good money, so that was a no brainer, fast forward again and here we are with a 50% finished project. Current Mods - 200ish KW according to butt dyno Was tuned with Apexi PowerFC EBC (old school Greddy Profec)  Stock turbo (more shaft play than a Tinder date gone right) 3inch turbo back Varex muffler  Aftermarket injectors of mystery size, Power FC showed 36% duty cycle at full boost so not behd good size Someone had good intentions but stuck with the stock R33 MAF so we had misfires at 6000rpm due to the MAF hitting 5.2V So far I’ve redone the entire interior with carpet form Car Mats Direct, new Seats and steering wheel from Autotechnica, also sound system by Autobarn (mainly Kicker) Also MCA pro comfort coil overs - Hands down best purchase yet, worlds of improvement over the tired 30yrold shocks Goals - 450kw/600hp on flex tune New paint job - Midnight Purple 2 Engine is at the shop getting rebuilt with forged rods a pistons, new valves and springs, ATI Harmonic balancer, Aeroflow 7.5L sump, rear head drain and oil restrictors as per oil control thread* and cam covers modded for larger breathers, other stuff I can’t recall of the top of my head Parts purchased and to be installed once the engine is done -  Engine loom from Wiring Specialties including these options: Haltech Nexus S3 R35 Coil pack conversion  PRP Dual Trigger kit Fan controller  Other Parts -  262 Kelford Cams Turbo - Hypergear ATR43SS3-ProS with T51R mod (whistly boi) 6 boost manifold (high mount) 50mm Turbosmart Pro gate (plumbed back for legal reasons) HKS Super Turbo Exhaust with High Flow Cat Custom 3.5inch dump and front pipe 1500cc Bosch injectors  Fuel Pump walbro 525 Haltech MAP and IAT sensors Haltech Flex Sensor Fenix Radiator with dual thermo fans LS1 Alternator Kit Oil Filter Relocation from EFI solutions and Cooling pro oil cooler Many other things sitting in my garage waiting for that engine to come back. Progress pics to follow -
    • Losses have to be less with DC coupling. Provided the battery inverter has decent MPP tracking ability - which really shouldn't be a problem. It's not 2005 any more.
    • Hi, Will the R33 GTR rear brake backing plates fit a GTST? I'm struggling to find GTST ones but can find new GTR ones.   Thanks.
    • I also got the same floor mats for a bit of extra bazzaz haha
    • Some more close up pics now that I’m back to working on the car, the loop pile is nice but again haven’t compared it to the other types in person, it’s hard to tell from the pics on the website. View of the hemming on the edges too, it comes in 2 pieces - front and back, honestly very happy with it for anyone on the fence.  Also attached my previous pics from further up as it didn’t let me post them directly before. (Nothing worse than photo bucket pics that aren’t hosted anymore years later)
