Hey Guys 5th time poster long time reader

I want to ask a question that maybe some of you people could help me with.

A mate of mine just gave mw a D1Spec Radiator breather tank which looks exactly the same as the carbon canister but is a chrome alloy unit. If i replace the ugly black canister with this breather tank will it do the same thing??

The breather tank is hollow inside, does any body know what is inside the carbon canister?? (Foam,Cotton wool, Charcoal(Ha,Ha) etc) I just thought that if I replace it how bling will that look! LOL. Seriously tho, Im just trying to pretty up my engine bay a bit after doing some minor mods (Believe it or not ive had a stock standard series 2 since 2000 and have only just decided to go down the modding path)

Anyone have any advice?

Looking forward to talking with all you guys as I venture down the modding path

on the inside of the carbon canister is like a cotton/wool type of stuff, how do i know this well. just a few hours ago i was tinkering around in the engine bay and i accidentally smacked it with a hammer and put a hole in it

sorry to hijack the thread a little but does any one know if i can just lol tape the canister out, i would take it out in the mean time but dont know what all the hoses do :domokun:

Carbon canister is just that, carbon.Absorbes fumes from petrol tank and petrol then gets sucked into engine under high vacume.leave it there as the police will take a dim view if you chuck it or replace it with a non approved one,ie:chrome or alloy. However,if you decide to hoy it over your shoulder then replace the fuel cap with a non-vacume type or on a hot day there may be a little pop from your fuel tank.

That's absolutely GOLD!!!!!

It's like oh yeah, I was giving my car a wax, and next thing you know bang bang bang, I smashed my window in and jumped on the roof :)

lol its not how it seems, i was doing some bush mechanic method of removing a screw, i kinda back handed it with the hammer :D

Haha, the good old bush mechanic style :)

It's pretty amazing though. I can't say i've personally tested the strength of the charcoal can, but it seems like i'd take a fair whack, as opposed to a brush by with a hammer? :)

lol trust me it was a fair wack, the screw had pretty much got me pissed, it mostly cracked but the impact spot got a small hole in it, after it slipped off the canister it put a lil dent in the frame the braket is joined too but i bent that back with pliers :D

p.s. i dont usually treat my car like this :)
