I am keen to get a 2way Nismo LSD for my 4WD S1 when it arrives.

I have a few questions though,

I know how a good 2way acts in a light RWD car (My AE86), and I am quite a fan of the handling improvements it makes.

How much different will this be to a heavy 4WD car with Attesa?

Will the loss of rear end traction make the Attesa power up the front wheels?

This sounds a bit dangerous and unbalanced.

Can anyone shed some light on the situation?

Thanks

the autech version came out with LSD as standard ( if it was 1.5 way or 2 way LSD I dont know )

I presume that means the 260rs Autech version? ( still pretty new to this )

so If Nissan did it from factory then it must be ok .. only thing to find out is if its a 1.5 way or a 2 way LSD

Is it going to be an Auto your putting it in?

yeah get a manual

get a 2 way

go drifting

on a side note though

you should be fine, if it wants to kick, the atessa will pull power and put it up front anwyays

I don't really want a manual. My AE86 is setup well for sliding.

I want a practical car that can allow me to have some 'fun' when the mood is right.

I'm not worried about the rear end kicking out, more about the front end gripping up as the attesa gives it power (pulling out of the slide aggresively)

the rs4s has a lsd - in fact it has the same gtr diff as the 260rs. see http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...563&hl=rs4s

Drive it it is hard to tell what the impact is, as we haven't really got it ever sliding! Car behaves like it's on rails...

Ian

the RS4 does NOT have an LSD

ive done standing burnouts, and well as tried to drift it, and only one wheel spins no matter how hard i clutch kick it, how much i warm up the oil my making figure 8s, no go

soooo i bought a nismo 2 way

well, considering you have a S1 RS4 NOT an RS4 S that really doesn't have much bearing here Grant. Ian is talking about the S2 RS4 S that, apart from being a factory manual, has a lot of extra gear the RS4 doesn't have, and the LSD is only a part of a long list.

Ian - is the factory lsd a 1 or 1.5? would be good to know if one ever popped up on the auctions.

i thought he meant RS4s as in plural

nope, as the post above this states - I meant a RS4S (which is what I said)! Follow the link for details.

newbie101, not sure. What does the gtr one do as it probably is the same. (As said, I just haven't had my stagea sliding at all - it doesn't do it on wet roads, wet tram tracks, or even the odd dirt road). Mind you, I'm not trying to slide it in the first place...

Ian

ive had abit of experience with the gtr lsd and in 2wd and 4wd (had around 550rwhp), 2wd = major major drift action and damn easy to control these long wheel base designs, i could fishtail up the road as far as i want and in any gear lol :) and 4wd is pretty damn good i never really tried any hard cornering with full power because i never got a chance, but 8000rpm launches and its smokin the 2 rears and 1 front wheel ;)

oh god i miss the power of my baby, the gto is seriously lacking in the power department at the moment :)

    • I thought Australia got rid of the "drag dodgy fuel up to 91 RON with ethanol", which is why all E10 advertise as "up to 94 RON" ? Anyway I put E10/91 in the missus' Mazda because she empties the tank weekly, when all my cars get 98RON. tl;dr - turbo - 98 RON, if you can't afford that, sell it and get a commuter car (or tune your car for 91, which no one does).
    • Yeah i found that alot of parts can be wrong or "very" hard to get the real right one. I already bought some brakes years ago on me "old" GT calipers and they were wrong too 😄  I told them too. Even send them pictures...but they said "EBC catalogue has them on my car... So i dont know what their answer will be. I call monday them and let them know that they are really not on my car. If they were they would be already on a car...
    • Welcome to Skyline ownership. Yes, it is entirely possible parts websites get things wrong. There's a whole world of inaccuracies out there when it comes to R34 stuff (and probably 33 and 32). Lots of things that are 'just bolt on, entirely interchangable' aren't. Even between S1 and S2 R34's. Yes they have a GTT item supposedly being 296mm. This is incorrect. I would call whoever you got them from and return them and let them know the GTT actually uses 310mm rotors. Depending on where you got them from your experience and success will obviously vary.
    • Hi...a bit a "development" on the brakes. I spoke to the guys where i get brakes from...and they are saying that 296mm EBC are for R34 GT-T. I then went to their site: https://www.ebcbrakes.com/vehicle/uk-row/NISSAN/Skyline (R34)/ and search for my car(R34 GT 1998 - it has GTT brakes) and it show me this USR1229 number and they are rly 296mm rotors... So now iam rly confused... The rotors i have now on the car are 310mm asi shown... So where is the problem? Does the whole EBC got it wrong or my calipers are just...idk know what?
    • Oh What the hell, I used to get a "are you sure you want to reply, this thread is XX months old" message. Maybe a software update remove that. My bad.
