hey guys,

last post i was talkin about getting a whitline spring/shock package, well i've been looking around, getting prices etc and have found that really only koni, kyb and bilstien make shocks for the r33 and all are standard length. Well now i'm thinking i'll just buy the bilstiens and some king springs (30mm lower) save about $200, a local suspension joint told me that they rang bilstein and they say that the standard length bilsteins will have no problems with 30mm lower springs. i'm sure bilstien wouldnt make a special shock just for whiteline as the whiteline kit is about 30mm lower also. Anyone looked into this or done this type of suspension setup ? feedback ?

cheers

Actually i dont know what you mean by special, but Whiteline shocks do have additional circlip grooves machined into their housings to allow for height adjustment.

Also i believe they are valved to suit the spring rates as specified and used by Whiteline in their kits.

I think Sydneykid could add to this as i believe he knows more than a thing or two about the Whitleline kits . (as well as all other things automotive.:D )

hey guys

thanks for the help, but really i'm no closer to making my mind up.. either go the whiteline kit or get the shocks and springs seperate, $200 saving.

also if the dude i'm taking to outta syd it right, trying to ring him atm...he sells the bilsteins for $441 a pair, which is the cheapest i could find.

cheers

    • Physically, you'd expect it to turn the motor 11/8ths faster than a standard one, but I'm not sure of specifics

    • Yes I can see how that would put you off HFM, especially with the price of good quality brake fluid. From what I understand it as you say the BM50 is the standard BMC for a R32 GTR, I must admit I would like to go far a Genuine Nissan BM57, but lack of cash prevents that at present. With the price being so close between the genuine BM50 and BM57 a BM57 New it seems a better choice as you gain that 1/16 bore size with the BM57, I would be interested in how much difference you feel with the BM57 fitted. I am going to take SteveL's advice in the short term and see how much actually comes out of that proportioning valve vent and save up for the Genuine Nissan part. Thanks for clarifying the HFM failure
    • Thanks mate. I just got the post inspection 1/2 done from state roads when the starter motor packed up, either that or the car alarm system is having trouble.  OEM part number 23300-AA112.
