Recommended Posts

Here is the design for the black face R33 300 km/h speedometer kit:

I am now accepting payments for this so we can get the design manufactured.

Price is $100 delivered.

I need to collect 30 payments to cover the costs before we can get the design made up. once we have enough payments, delivery time should be 2 weeks.

to organise payment and reserve your spot in this group buy, send me a pm.

Me slack still haven't givven you the pic of the GTST logo

Can somone who has a GTS-T R33 logo post it up. I have been loooking but haven't found one.

What logo you after Wogs?

Any ideas on compatibility with ALSD models? (SLIP and ALSD globes). I'd probably be happy if all i have to do is drill a few holes.

Tentatively in.

the kits wont have the indicators for SLIP or ALSD. up to you if you decide to mod the kit to suit.

you can put me down for a set.

would it be possible to change the values on the boost gauge to allow it to show +-20Psi, like youve done with the speedo?

that would require a change to the boost circuitry, we havent investigated on how that might be done.

the only change we might make to the design would be to add a small tasteful logo near the bottom of the speedometer face, if someone wants to submit one to me, otherwise the design will stay as is.

pms sent.

Actually i've just realised that the SLIP and ALSD lights are on the tacho, not the speedo. Does this kit affect the operation of any of the other gauges (other than the speedometer) ? Would i be able to order the speedometer alone? (stock units for pressure are fine for me).

I'd be a definite if so.

no it doesnt affect the operation of the other gauges. yes you can choose to install just the speedometer if you wish, but the price will still be $100.

PAYMENTS UPDATE: so far 3 people have paid for their gauges, 27 to go before manufacture can begin.

Maybe a silly question, but how does one go about recalibrating the speedo? (cost? time needed?)

recalibration is done by jumping solder points on the back of the speedometer circuit board and is detailed in the instructions. takes about an hour to do the whole job.

Hi

will you have any available for an R32 in the future? maybe a GTS4 or GTR kit?

Cheers

yep we're working on the recalibration for the R32 at the moment and a similar group buy will be happening for this soon.

people need to start sending their payments before we can get these manufactured. of the 30 or so people who have put themselves down as definates, I have received 3 payments. the quicker you make your payments the quicker you get your gauges.

Any chance you could make the numbers alternate in size, similar to stock r34 and s15 speedos?

that along with a tasteful gtst/skyline logo would look pretty sweet i think, and would guarantee me as a buyer.

changing the design to have the alternate sized numbers would mean additional cost that I would need to pay for. in any case I prefer the numbers being the same size. each to their own I suppose. so the number size stays as is.

however there MAY be provision to have a tasteful logo added:

1. if someone can actually send me one AND

2. the cost to add the logo to the design doesnt break the bank.

    • The question then becomes - was there any fluid coming from that hole before you did the rebuild ?    You may not have noticed, of course.   Depending on how you did the rebuild, the possibility has to be considered that somehow (cleaning ?)  fluid entered that hole and is now being 'forced'  out by small movements of the proportioning valve.   From the factory, there's actually a small rubber plug in that hole but with age and under-bonnet heat it's quite common for it to 'go missing'.  That rubber plug is designed to allow the venting process but also to prevent 'stuff' getting to the area (prevent corrosion, etc).   The plug is also not available as a spare part AFAIA. Personally I wouldn't race and buy a new master just yet but keep an eye on the area to see if the 'leak' continues.   If you're concerned about brake fluid damaging nearby paintwork, cable tie a piece of suitable absorbant material over the hole and remove/monitor occasionally.    Operation of the proportioning valve and the brake master itself won't be affected, but also keep an eye on brake fluid level, of course. In terms of a new master, the genuine part is getting expensive, unfortunately.  Amayama is showing AUD900+.   I was searching recently and there's an aftermarket part available from Japan made by 'Parts Assist': https://zenmarket.jp/en/yahoo.aspx?q=BNR32%2bBM50&p=1 Whether it's any good I have no idea, although in my experience Japanese aftermarket stuff is pretty good quality-wise.   The above site allows overseas buyers to purchase stuff more easily from Japan but there are fees and shipping costs, of course.   The original Japanese seller page is here: https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/p1197401228 Copper/Nickel is fine but I still prefer bundy tube and it's also cheaper.
