how bout all those trucks, old vans and bombs with black puffin smoke comin out of their exhaust... you don't see cops defecting them... and how bout cars with busted brake, tail or head lights... see heaps of those, in fact I nearly merged into a stupid Lancer on my way home just then cause his front lights were busted, only one parker was working... lucky i triple checked my blind spot and noticed a dark shadow... I was about to yell at him as I passed but his windows were closed.

TRUE TRUE TRUE!!!

i got caught doing a burn out in kings cross a while back, got my ticket and also got defected for being to low, i had standard suspension, a week later i took it in to the rta at botany, because they mayed me do a full inspection, i drove into the rta paid the fee, went to the pits section they took my defect notice and my paid receipt, waited 10mins they called me around, drove in they checked my ride height, the inspector then told me to pop the bonnet, got some numbers down from the plates and signed the papers and told me to go have a nice day everything is fine, a week or two later i get pulled over for nothing and get defected again, this time for a whole lot of things, to low, exhaust to loud, gauges, air filter, bov, front bumper loose, and gives me two days to get an inspection otherwise i cant drive, i go back to botany rta they say its fine u can go, have a nice day,

ps. i took the gauges out

P's attract attention.... And imports attract even more..... Its insane, and in my area, southwest and sutherland shire, its getting worse by the month.... If gets any worse over the next few years, I'm moving to Tasmania.... I don't see the cops getting any better... I'v removed my P Plates for the last 3 months, and haven't had a single "random" breath test, or as much as a glimps from a cop....but when i had the P's on, I had 12 "random" breath tests in 6 months..... Not to mention the "you were speeding" attempts from an Ashfield Highway Patrol Officer Number 9, who told me I was doing 130 on the M5... he pulled me over doing 100, legally, and told me i was doing 130, to my repeat answer, "I was doing 100 from King Georges Road", until he gave up, and followed me home... all the way from Belmore road to Menai... I even did a Maccas drive thru at Padstow.... Persistant bastard, still got nothing...

By the way, if anyone ever gets the chance to, tell a cop he has 2 tail lights out at the traffic lights..... They like to tell you that THEY enforce the rules, and you don't..... Commondore cop cars ALWAYS have a light out....

S of S

funny u say that, my friend used to work at Holden in Artarmon, they services a lot of cop cars, and they say that every time a cop car leaves the service centre they leave them with a defect because if the cop car has a defect they carn't book you. eg. my friend over took a cop doing 80 in a 60 zone and when he got pulled over he said "officer u have a head light out" and the oficer knew what he meant and said slow down and let him off.... i wouldn't recomend testing this tho, my friend has since lost his license

    • After using a protractor for an actually accurate assessment of what is required,  and by NOT using my uncalibrated eyeball I worked out I need a 25° silicone bend from the TB ro the MAF, but, my choice was either a 30° or a 23° (23° is a weird spec), so I grabbed the 23° one from Raceworks I also grabbed 1mtr of 3" straight from Just Jap, I needed 350mm, but they only had 300mm, or 1mtr lengths....meh Also ordered a 1/2" hose bulkhead fitting from fleabay, this has a smoothish mushroom looking head (they are designed for below the water line of boats) that will fit inside the bend, the hose bit and threaded bit looks to long, but nothing that a hacksaw cannot fix if required, the hose will then just get jamed on the threaded bit up to the retaining nut Fingers crossed and the unsightly amount of hose clamps will be reduced down to 4 once all the parts arrive
    • Oil change does not trigger code 21. Code 21 is for coilpacks primary side connection. You can try to clear the code with a battery disconnect, hold down the brake pedal to drain capacitors through the brake lights with the ignition on for 10-15 seconds before you reconnect the battery. I have seen R35 coil conversion permanently cause this code with no ill effects so it might be the resistance it wants to see isn't quite right on one or more coilpacks. Could be inside the ECU, could be the harness, could be a coil. You can test it all if you want or just ignore until the car actually starts misfiring.
    • I forgot you have a Nistune ECU. Use Nistune to do all the tests I mentioned instead of faffing with 30+ year old electrical connectors. You can read MAF volts off that too, there are reference values in the service manual to tell you roughly what it should be in different conditions.
    • No. I think it might be the AFM. Hence the use of the terms "swaptronics", which implies the use of swapping out electronics for the purpose of diagnosis. It's about the only way to prove that a small/niggling/whatever problem with an AFM or a CAS or similar is actually caused by that AFM/CAS/whatever. A known good item swapped in that still gives the same problem is likely to be caused somewhere else. They're all the same. Spraying AFMs with cleaner is an each way bet between cleaning it and f**king it.
    • Oh wow! This might actually work amazingly. Do you know the ratio of the diff? I was told the only thing you need to make sure of is if the front & rear diff ratios are the same. Ours is a 4.083 Thanks!
